I have 8 panels 450wp, 50v at 10A. When i use 2 panels in serie and 2 paralel (100 V at 20A). I can make 2 sets. Do i use the victron mppt 100 / 30 or the 100/50. Because the output make 50amp? Oh yeah, thx for the video
@davidpatrick18139 ай бұрын
There are some interesting testing but whatever the case always keep it under the 100V or whatever the MPPT controller is. The volt in is key. Some have tested and the charge watts/amps is much more tolerant and also adjustable in the Victron eco system.

Thanks for the question. Typically the 100/30 is good for up to 400watts of solar when charging a 12v battery bank. The 30 in 100/30 tells us that we can charge the battery bank at 30 amps. If we have 30 amps to work with at 12 volts that means we can utilize roughly 360 watts (12v x 30amps = 360watts) of solar. When wiring your solar panels together it is important to note that you want to stay close to 10 amps and you need to stay well within the voltage limit on the charger (100V). When you exceed 10 amps you may need to need to run larger wire to safely handle the current and exceeding the voltage limit will fry your charger pretty quick. Blue Sea Circuit Wizard is your friend in situations like this.

I was hoping to hear you talk about the OG model. I have a small 19' travel trailer and need a 3000 w inverter to use the A/C (with soft start already installed). Does the OG model have the charger? I have a solar suitcase and am find with plugging that in as I need it. Any help here to know what to buy would be great. Thanks.

how successful are these at running a single Air Conditioning unit? I currently have a 30 amp RV travel trailer.
@unakagearcompany8 ай бұрын
They work well. Your typical RV AC unit will usually require something in the neighborhood of 1500 watts to run and the 3000va inverter can supply that wattage without an issue.

@@unakagearcompanyeven the surge ?
@unakagearcompany8 ай бұрын
@@peeinginthewind It depends on the Air conditioner but the surge typically is not a problem. If there was any concern or issue, you could always install a soft start or smart start with the AC unit to reduce the in rush or surge.

Some 100ah 48v batteries I have heard have a hard time starting them, something to do with the BMS in the cheapest eg4 lifep04 battery. I’ve not tested, only repeating what others have said. The higher quality eg4 and sok seem to do it no problem.

If you’re off grid with the Quattro, but you’re connected to the main panel, so you can power your house. Using an interconnect switch, when you turn off your inverter and only have it set for charging, can you plug it into your house outlet to charge? I’ve done this and haven’t had any issues - just wondering if this is safe?

Alotta “stuff” mentioned for remote sensing inputs outputs. Most likely worth mentioning as a use vs “stuff”. On my boat all my remote sensing “stuff”, ha a purpose, my need to know “stuff”, is based upon direct requirements to a task, a situation or requirement of my other important “stuff”, like batteries, run times, solar input, systems usages. You know, life supporting “stuff” at sea or at anchor. No where is there a category good life supporting “stuff” to increase your chances. I’d personally suggest a part - 2, “stuff” you may need to know….

by the way, I think a real winner video would be to show how to set up the unit to only charge between or during the time that our local power rates are lowest. There are a million different things it can do .. but If there is sun to power panels, I want the unit to use it, if not ... not turn on shore power and charge except during the low rate hours. If it turns on and charges during the day (which is fine) it want to ... even when sunny until full ... I want the best from all worlds :-) ... later.. @@unakagearcompany

I have a Victron energy multi plus 24v 3000 70 amp. I’m wanting to connect my phone what do I need also what else would I need for solar panels please?
@unakagearcompany8 ай бұрын
If you want to see your multiplus on your phone you either need a Cerbo device, or the cheaper option would be to install a VE.Bus Smart Dongle. It connects to your multiplus using a RJ45 cable. I included a link below. To add solar to your system you will need a MPPT charge controller + solar panels. If you email us at csr@unakagearco.com we can answer more questions or make specific recommendations on what charge controller you need based on the amount of solar you are trying to add. unakagearco.com/products/victron-ve-bus-smart-dongle-ass030537010?_pos=1&_sid=c2cde4c30&_ss=r

Is the victron energy multiPlus II 12/3000/120-50 a split phase system?
@unakagearcompany8 ай бұрын
The Multiplus II 12/3000/120-50 is not a split phase system on its own. You can install two units in parallel to create a split phase system. The MultiPlus-II 2x 120V unit can do split phase output but only if it has split phase input. It can not generate split phase with a single 120V feed, or off of battery power. Feel free to contact us or email us at CSR@unakagearco.com if you need help with your system.

Hopefully Victron will update their line-up. Its a real mess. Their charge controllers are awesome, the pure inverters (the phoenix line) are quite good too. But the DC-to-DC chargers, the DC-to-DC converters, and their inverter-chargers are all just way out of date. The inverter-chargers are solid units for what they do, and the warranty is great, but the technology is just way too old. For example, their 48V multiplus II doesn't even have split-phase output. To be honest, I'd use an EG4 6000XP over a Victron multiplus II for 48V.
@unakagearcompany8 ай бұрын
Thanks for the input. I suspect you'll see your ideas come to fruition sooner than later. Victron may be late to the game on the single split phase unit but when they get it to the finish line it will be the standard.

It does not make sense for them to have everything to the US standards and regulations as they have a product line meant internationally and then one for the US and a couple of other countries due to the voltage differences and weird split phase
