Just hooked mine up today. Thankfully it didn't need an update. I did contact BBB's to ask prior to just hooking it up. They responded super quick and told me to hook it up and if it needed updates, they would walk me through it. Great video! thanks for sharing.

Great video Sean! You guys are loading up on the newest and coolest gear for your RV! It's great that you have so many things that can help keep your rig running as smoothly as possible. Having that information will be really helpful for you I'm sure!

Thanks, Josh. I thought the RV would cause me to buy less gadgets, but I guess I still get them, just different gadgets.

These are great to rectify high voltage readings that you may get from charger which causes absorption to early.i used on easysolar/multi, connection direct to battery with rj45 back to charger/inverter,it worked a treat,the Bluetooth information is a bonus, because i have a digital multi panel this overides the dongle so i cant change multis/easysolar settings,no biggie so long as the correct voltage is given to unit. The dongle also supports smart networking. I agree having to having to fork out 4 all these extra little knick knacks is getting tiresome.

Where do you plug in the RJ45 cable into the Multiplus 3000. That would be nice to see

Yeah it was kind of like “tada” it’s magically done.

There are 2RJ45 ports under the cover at the pretty sure you can plug in to either one

Bluetooth MONITORING wasn’t a big draw for me, so I passed on a BMV712, and got a ‘simpler’ Shunt. But … I didn’t quite understand that the Only way to (program) my Multiplus, MPPT, and Orion was to buy the Dongle …. am I correct ?? I’m an iOS user, a computer NOVICE, and finally, I Really HOPED that I didn’t need to buy any more VE components …. 😫
@stevenfeavearyear7567 Жыл бұрын
Yes the only want to actually program your settings on a Multiplus ect is a dongle, Just have to make sure you get the correct one ie, VE Direct or VE Bus. The BMV712 is ONLY monitoring screen from what i understand which uses the shunt to get its info(Has an alarm output). I am still trying to work out if the BMV712 will interface and share data with a VE Direct bluetooth dongle like shown in the video.
@bigdan34765 жыл бұрын
Did the black lead on the dongle need to be connected to the shunt?
@Jmmondeau Жыл бұрын
Thanks. Spot on.

Why do you need this dongle when you have the BMV-712 Doesn't it give you the same info? If not, what can it do that the BMV712 cant?
@ChickerysTravels4 жыл бұрын
This dongle allows me to program settings on the inverter charger, as well as remotely monitor.

Hi and thank you! This is the only video I’ve seen that actually shows install. We have 4 batteries and it looks like you might too. Is there a specific pos/neg terminal you connected to, as in first and last in series, inner most battery, or how did you select? I read it should be attached in inner battery or whichever one might heat up quickest but wasn’t sure about which battery terminals. Thanks in advance!

I just put on the first battery.

Just wondering, do you want the negative on the battery or the shunt?

Hi. Why do you need the mmpt charge controller since your inverter also has a charger. Considering it costs upwards of $800
@ChickerysTravels5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question! The MMPT is for the solar side. The charger on the inverter is to charge the batteries from the shore power and/or the generator.
@LastNameTom4 жыл бұрын
Hi, Does that inverter act like a pass through for shore power? As in if that is a 2000 watt inverter, will the shore power be bottle necked to 2000 or does it let the power flow through as needed?
@ChickerysTravels4 жыл бұрын
It allows the power to flow through as needed.

Hi Sean, how do you configure mppt and inverter charger settings? I mean smthey both want to charge so who decides if the inverter or the mppt is charging? Also if you have the inverter/charger that also shows you the SOC, do you still need the batt monitor in the system? I bought the same configuration but im unsure if i need the batt monitor
@ChickerysTravels4 жыл бұрын
I share the inverter settings in this video (kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWavm2CEgtGAec0). The MPPT settings will depend on your solar setup. They are completely different. The inverter takes the battery power and converts it to AC power for your 110v outlets, etc. When it is charging, it takes that same 110 power from the shore power side to charge the batteries. The MPPT is only taking the power generated by the solar panels to charge the batteries. So, if you are hooked up to shore power or are running a generator, the inverter/charger will do most of the work in keeping your batteries charged. If you are unplugged from everything, the MPPT will be your only source for charging the batteries. We are rarely plugged in anymore so my MPPT does 99% of the charging of the batteries using out 860 watts of solar. The inverter/charger, MPPT, and batteries are all "Smart" in that they have controls to keep the batteries from overcharging or undercharging. The battery monitor is, in my opinion, a necessity. This is not only for the state of charge, but also time remaining, what you are using vs what you are taking in, number of charge cycles on the batteries, etc. It is an invaluable part of staying on top of your batteries.

Chickery's Travels thanks 🙏 Does the temp value from the dongle gets shared through ve smart network to the mppt charger?

Hi Sean can you use this device to stop the invertor when it gets to a specified voltage?
@ChickerysTravels5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can turn it on and off at any time with this device. You can also adjust the settings for your preferences.
