Mark's Prostate Cancer Experience

Mark's Prostate Cancer Experience

Күн бұрын

Published 09 November 2015 - Well, I just got out of my prostate cancer surgery, and shot this video immediately afterwards. I'm a little groggy, my throat is dry, and I have some discomfort. But, the prostatectomy was a great success, and we believe that as I result of this I am going to be declared cancer free. I am documenting every stage of their experience, and I hope this can be of benefit to you.

I Just pooped after 5 days post surgery. My surgery was performed by Loma Linda Veterans Hospital in California. They took there time and I should have full function and full recovery. My life was saved! They suspect I had 5-10 years it live! I feel great today, Thank you Mark for your videos. My outcome was the same however my surgery was 7.5 hrs due to my particular case and they saved all the nerves. I am most grateful for my second chance. Ray Hageman CPL U.S.M.C

I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in July 2020. I choose not to have the robotic procedure. My prostate was removed in Oct 2020, with no complications in regards to the surgery. I am 59 yrs old...its been 10 months since I had the surgery, and I am at 100% again, to include I am able to get erections!! 👊 I have been tested every (3) months, for which I show a zero with no traces of cancer! As I always say - expect the worse & hope for the best! In this case I prevailed 🏆...

I’m so glad your recovery from this surgery has been so successful. Watching all of your videos before my surgery on 6 January, 2020 gave me encouragement, My surgery was done by the gifted Dr. Goel, at Windsor’s (Ontario, Canada) Metropolitan Hospital, and my progress so far has been so much better than I ever expected. Thank you so much!

I appreciate this information Mark. I'm trying to wrap my head around all this now, preparing for this procedure. I'm totally freaked out over it, especially the catheter and incontinence. Again, thanks much, it was helpful. It's nearly 2020, but I'm guessing the procedure is still the same.

Ok..when you wake up I felt alot of abdominal pain and cramps..like gas or food poisoning type of pain...and the reason they want you to get up and walk is so you can pass gas and feel better...its going to take a while but you start to feel better after 10 hours...and you will go home within 24 hrs of surgery

Probably due to the period of no fluids prior to surgery, both elbows, arms, and hands are bruised and turned to hamburger from getting the ports in prior to surgery.

Very much appreciated as well. I’m concerned about post surgery, bladder and bowel movement. What are the do’s and don’t s?... also how do you negotiate walking around with the urinating bags? Do you go outside?

I had my prostate removed November 11, 2020. Having the catheter was not much of an issue. I had a large bag I could set on the floor at night and a smaller bag I could strap to my leg during the day and wear under my clothes. I could go out in public and the bag wasn’t noticeable. I removed the catheter after one week. While sleeping I would wear Depends and during the day I would wear a shield under my underwear. After three months it’s not necessary to wear either. Regarding bowel movements you just don’t want to strain until you are healed, I never had a problem. My biopsy indicated all the cancer was removed and my first PSA was undetectable. I had a lot of apprehension before the surgery but it went a lot better than I imagined and I am very happy I made the decision to have the surgery rather than radiation.
