Principal Lauren Dressback is not only a stellar educator within the Vestavia Hills City School system, she is also a friend... She's being railroaded for no other reason than she has had the courage to come out as a lesbian and live her life in the light. It’s really not hard for me to believe that is the reason she is on leave just because of my own personal experience as a student in that school system from 1st-10th grade. It genuinely makes me sick to my stomach.

Hopefully you won’t delete my comment again, so those in your echo chamber might actually hear a logical opposing view for once… to reiterate; the person who was hired to be a moral authority figure for hundreds of small children and to lead our children in their character development has left her husband and fractured her family, so she can be with her gay lover… and you feel sorry, not for the children who will have to attempt to cope with this situation, but for the incredibly selfish and immoral behavior of the principal? If you think holding this view makes me a bigot, fine. But at least leave me my comment here so everyone can see the “bigotry” and decide for themselves.

There's nothing logical about your hate and fear - you clearly have not spoken to her ex husband or children. As clergy, as a literal moral authority figure, Lauren is far more fit to be around children than the folks who demoted her last night, and I would be honored for her to be around my own children, or to participate in my church at any level. Your faith, nor the faith of the school board, should not have any bearing on the private life of a school employee. Your faith is for your church, and you can spout your bigotry freely there. Keep your religion out of public schools. If your religion gets to be in the school, so does mine, and that Gary should TERRIFY you.
