Very clever ideas. I don't do much egress hdw anymore but now this is on my bucket list since this could be used for door closers and mag locks.

Thanks Jim Yes that is correct you can not unscrew while the panic hardware is still on the door we realized this during our phone conversation my mistake. There is other things good about my idea it gives a way of mounting the cyl with out putting extra holes or making special mounting plates in your door as well.

Great idea but one thing and that is with a rim cyl the tail piece is close to the bottom of the cylinder so you won't get a even turn. So really you have to still remove the panic bar. The good thing about your idea is that it fills the edge of the door so nobody can put garbage in or cut their fings.
