Am I able to put permanent vinyl directly on to the cap? Customer just wants a logo right on the cap no background. And I'm too nervous to use htv

Yes, you can. That's what I used to use when I first started doing cutouts and toppers . The only bad thing about permanent vinyl is that you need to be very careful when applying it depending on what what you'll be applying it to. If you'll be applying it to cardstock, make sure to use a very light grip transfer sheet.
