I have tried this method on the second half of the hull and it certainly is faster than leaving each treenails glue time to dry before tackling another set. However, i still find i get tired of the exercise and although it is faster in the long term i not sure there will be a net difference in overall time. There is also a comfort level in knowing that the treenail is correctly glued. So the short story is that both methods work and each of you must choose which ever you prefer. 1/9/22

Hello Kenny! Today was a great day: I stumbled on your series about Granado and Planking 101. Exactly my themes. I am building HMS Pegasus right now and Granado is the next one. I like your slow and thorough approach. It helps me immensely. There are a lot of videos say on planking, often than not a step or two are being left out or dealed with too short for a beginner (me). Not yours, a real treasure box. Thumbs up for each and every part!

Thank you Robert. If you look at my channel from time to hime i group a series of videos together which explain the technique i am currently using. The 10 videos on planking were developed over many years. David Antscheryl has a paper on planking which is what i used to develop my basic skills. Over time my techniques do evolve as i get better at performing certain tasks. Happy that you found it useful.’best regards Kevin

I can appreciate the technical challenge of adding tree nails, and I understand that full size ships were built this way. However, on a model it looks overly fussy, and out of scale. When you look at any ship sitting at the dock, you cannot make out the individual tree nails.

That is always the challenge. Some like to highlight the treenails, others like me use the same wood that the planks were made off and minimize the effect. Certainly tree nails on a model should not attract to much attention. I feel that many times when people use different woods in their treenails it is an unconscious reflection of all the hard work that they put into the model. In any case, if you are going to construction a historical accurate model treenails should be used. I appreciate your comment as it is a main discussion point of view.
