Cha Jung-Hwan faces his next opponent at ROAD FC 19 on November 9, 2014 in Seoul, South Korea. The full time coach and fighter is working to put his gym MMA Story on the map.
Cha is 10-6-3 since his beginning ten years ago in Korea's Spirit MC. His start was a tough one, with back to back losses in performances that led him to face some tough opponents during the period, like Ross Ibanez and George Sotiropoulos. Cha then cemented himself on the international scene by locking our heavy favorite Ryo Chonan at Astra: Yoshida's Farewell.
Cha transitioned into ROAD FC when the promotion took up the reins of MMA in Korea in 2011. He also made a remarkable appearance in ONE FC by knocking out Igor Gracie. Since then, Cha is coming off back to back Draws in ROAD FC against Road Carniero and Andrews Nakahara. His next match will not see a step down in the level of his opponent as he faces Brazil pioneer Alexandre Barros at ROAD FC 19.
Asia MMA spoke with Cha before his fight, and learned about his grappling background, his favorite match, and why he fights.
