The two hidden cuts are 1) when J-hope came out in racer suit and 2) when V came out in that grey suit. They were in the group shot before the cut in different clothes. I remember in the behind video they shot it through a whole night until dawn. They really work that hard. Hats off. They deserve everything!

There's about 4 cuts in the MV: The transition to J-hope after the first chorus is a cut, when other BTS members appear with changed outfits behind RM during the second verse there is a cut there, the transition from RM to V is a cut (He's wearing different clothing and the lighting is different), and the last and only one which Jordon could point out is a cut.

RM's verse explains the meaning of this song. "Giving up on 5? Giving up on 6?" He's referring to subsequent generations giving up on 5 or 6 aspects of society, such as home ownership, having children, getting married, going to college, or getting a well-paying job, because society has made it next to impossible to achieve those things...this is why BTS garnered so much support early on in their career: because they were talking about real issues that Korean citizens were facing in their daily lives.

I love this song so much i cosplayed as Jimin from this MV and did the Dope dance at a local comic con near me and i had fun. Also i love how Jimin and Jungkook bounced of eachother, with their voices. Jimin in this MV is why i love a man in uniform, i love Jimins voice and i also love his highnotes aswell but his character is the one i love, this is partly the reason Jimin is my ultimate kpop bias. Dope will forever hold a very, very special place in my heart - I like to say that they had me at, "Welcome, first time with BTS?" because it genuinely was. Also, I am very amused by the fact that you, a video editor, were fooled by the transitions (they really are insanely good!). Save Me actually is one-take though. RM's verse "Given up on 3? Given up on 5?" is SO amazingly written. From Wikipedia: Sampo Generation (Hangul: 삼포세대; Hanja: 三抛世代; RR: samposedae, “Three giving-up generation”) is a neologism in South Korea referring to a generation that gives up courtship, marriage, and having kids. Many of the young generation in South Korea have given up those three things because of social pressures and economical problems such as increasing cost-of-living, tuition payments, and affordable housing scarcity. There is also the opo sedae, or “five giving-up generation”, which takes the same three and adds employment and home ownership. The next line can be translated to (as per DoolSet Lyrics), "Then, since I like beef jerky, let me be Yookpo [six giving-up] Generation." (Both are pronounced the same way.) The scene at 5:29 where Namjoon raps, he wasn't actually there rapping with the members dancing, that was a different cut. So you could say that the robot camera did the same movement with the solo rap and then the dancing and merged it together so it created that effect with the transition of Taehyung. I don't particularly remember where and who said it but maybe the behind the scenes of the m/v.

There’s an even deeper meaning behind this one. This dual release of “Dope” and “I Need U” is what really blew them up. They had been dissed by other Korean rappers and artists in the industry who were jealous of BTS’ level of talent and dedication. But they kept working hard to get better and prove them wrong. “Dope” is a clapback to those artists who thought that since they got a little success they could just sit back while BTS actually worked hard. Now BTS are the biggest artists to have ever lived and those people who tried to belittle them haven’t achieved even 1/100th of the success BTS have.

I think that “Dope” is about Korea itself. Korean people really work hard from morning till evening, also students (they take a really difficult exams to get into universities), they don’t have enough time to rest, that’s also because Koreans are workaholics. It can also apply to BTS (they work hard for ARMYs to make them proud). That’s my theory I could be wrong. :)
