Video Game Arcade Tours - London Trocadero (But in 2023) 🇬🇧

The London Trocadero was an entertainment complex on Coventry Street, with a rear entrance in Shaftesbury Avenue, London. It was originally built in 1896 as a restaurant, which closed in 1965. In 1984, the complex reopened as an exhibition and entertainment space. It became known for the video-game oriented SegaWorld attractions which were added in 1996, and later downscaled and renamed to "Funland" before its closure in 2011. Part of the building was opened as a hotel in 2020 called Zedwell Piccadilly Circus.

Arcades became popular with children and particularly adolescents, which led parents to be concerned that video game playing might cause them to skip school.

Great coverage! You have a good memory. Its hard to see it now. Shaken memories, Sentiments & all Now Its haunting, akin to touring the titanic graveyard. but if you were there. The site was blinding. A site to behold. '97 to 2005 were my best years there. Thanks for this vid! 👍

Aside from SEGA World I also miss the "Alien War" Attraction they used to have at the Trocadero back in the 90's, it was a walk-through attraction that immersed you in "total living reality" as you and a couple few USMC marines attempt to escape a Wey-U facility taken over by hostile Xenomorphs. (Noted games i spotted in the clips included Dancing Stage Euro Mix & ParaPara Paradise 2ndMix from Konami/BEMANI)

For me the golden era was 1992-2000. I saw the Guinness book of world records exhibition, quasar laser tag, the virtual reality games with head gears on the ground floor, hmv and alien wars, and then sega world. Trocadero was a kids dream come true. Amazing place.

Went from 1997 - 2008 or 2009. Can't remember when it closed down but was gutted. Grew up in the 90s so this was a big deal to me. Sad.

Went to the trocodero in 1995 they had a nickelodeon studio on the third floor and some kind of cafe across from it

This makes me sad of the once great arcade that was essentially my 2nd home. But on the positive, at least it's not wasted space. Looks like the building is split between a hotel and the crystal maze experience.

Those were the days! as far as I know, they forced them out of the building when the lease was up. I think there's an article on google about it the removal of the machines, it was a big deal at the time lol: The Case of London Trocadero Ltd v Family Leisure Holdings Ltd [2012] EWCA Civ 1037 Real estate in the UK will always get used no matter what, it's just sad that its a crummy soulless hotel

There's a lot of money in some religions. Half of Salt Lake City (probably more) is owned by the Mormons. Huge shopping centers and all sorts. Kinda crazy

The arcade games had like in Europe like dancing stage/dancing stage revolution nickname dance dance revolution And the other Stepmania for short were basically somewhere around the arcade randomly I guess. 👾😌🤷
