This is all well and amazing, but what really gets me are pure vocal tracks in video games - not just a sample or an acapella segment, but full-on lyrics. Since they’re used so rarely in the medium, they make every moment they’re tied to feel magnitudes more impactful. Struck by the Rain is probably my favorite, but in general if I hear vocals it’s probably going on my playlist.

The thing with lyrical tracks is that they can be used to tell a story in the game without being intrusive. The choral hymns of The Indoline Praetorium theme in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 beautifully describes the history and the views of their god and the Praetor without needing to show a cutscene of it. NieR Automata has Weight of the World, showing the feelings of both the characters and the players. But the song I love the most, and breaks me every single time, is Choosing Hope from Final Fantasy XV Comrades. While (according to the wiki), the lyrics are meant to describe the thoughts of the Kingsglaive, I feel it also perfectly matches the thoughts of Noctis. Trying to find any way around the life he is destined to live and suffer for the greater good of the people of Eos. That haunting knowledge and the courage to believe in his friends knowing they will never meet again leads to one of the best aspects of the game’s story that most people never saw/heard. Also when your performance can make the composer, Nobuo Oematsu of all people, tear up in the studio, you can confidently say the performance also adds to the pain of that song

The music in gen 5 is so cool. N's battle theme is a walk down in prime number intervals. And Gecis is named like that because G and Cis (the german word for c sharp) is a tritone which is one of the most dissonant intervals you can have and that's also reflected in his music. I just love how they use Music in story telling.

The xenoblade games are no strangers to good music, but 1 I love so much is the power of Jin. This track is phenomenal, and saying anything about it would require so much context towards Jin as a character, how blades work, and the world of alrest as a whole. What I can say though is that Xenoblade 2 has my favorite video game soundtrack, and what I consider the be the best soundtrack in any game.

I know it’s late and you probably won’t see this but I feel like Emdasche’s Pokémon Uranium soundtrack is phenomenal. The triumphant feeling you get when the gym leader sends out their ace or that bone chilling chirp of a Geiger counter in any of the Nuclear tracks are purely amazing.

There's Panzer Dragoon 1 and 2, which is a rail shooter, then there's Panzer Dragoon Saga, which is an AMAZING RPG, then there's Panzer Dragoon Orta, which was supposed to be a side story rail shooter, but Microsoft ruined everything and pushed to make it a main line title, thus creating a whole bunch of plot holes story wise....but the music is so interesting. It has this tribal sound to it, but at times it has sounds of chaoticness and futurism. It's a cool mixed bag. The reason many a players don't know about the game is because the "remake" that just got made wasn't great and the RPG (Panzer Dragoon Saga) costs like $1000 as of right now.

If you think kitsch is good, youve get to see the rest of the tekken soundtrack. Smash unfortunately butchered some of the tracks with remixes. My personal favourites would be osts from tekken tag 1, tekken 4 and 5 but there are gems throughout the series. Id also recommend mgr revengance. Every boss theme is iconic

Look. I'm gonna be completely honest with you: you *should* be afraid of the desert, ESPECIALLY the Sahara but this goes for most deserts. It's an always changing landscape without many clear landmarks. During the day it's the hottest place you'll ever visit, during the night it can freeze. There's barely any water, let alone drinkable water. Sandstorms can be extremely sudden. There's not many people passing through it, especially when straying off the known routes. You should be terrified of the desert, we haven't mastered it as well as you may think
