Great tutorial, I also thought of another way of doing this using the "track matte key effect". You can also use the transform effect instead of keyframing, and that'll mean you don't have to add a "fast blur" as it automatically adds a 180 degree shutter which you can adjust to whatever number you want.

Transform is better in every way for Motion Blur but it cannot be used in this case. It has a limit to it's scaling and when attempting to scale far enough to move through the title, it hits the limit much too early. Only the traditional scale can allow you to go far enough to go through the title...hence the addition of Fast Blur.
