Video Manual: NUX NDD-7 Tape Echo

I had been trying to get to a boutique guitar shop for going on 8 months so when I finally got there I did something I rarely do, impulse buying. I got that Ibanez tube screamer, and the Big Miff Pi, I'd been reading about all my life, also the Whammy Ricochet all of which are awesome. I really new nothing about the nux but I love delay, and new about the "space station" ... That said this was the perfect tutorial and I'm very pleased to have purchased the Nux SOS . It sounds awesome and has definitely fueled my creativity. Thanks for such a fine explanation without the usual blabber!!! I am subscribing!

Looking forward to your NDD-7 vs RE-202 comparison vid. Right now you've 100% sold me on this Nux pedal. I haven't been as impressed with the RE-202 vids I've seen. I'll wait for your comparison vid to help in making a final decision. Thanks

Thanks! I'm really excited to get that pedal to compare them side-by-side, too! I think the main reason to get the RE-202 over the NDD-7, is if you really need presets. Although the instant Warp function is also a unique feature that's really cool. If you could add reverb to specific tape heads like on the Volante, I think it would even be a Strymon-killer! But it's so big and so expensive, I think it really has to be spectacular to justify its existence, so I guess we'll see!

Thanks for the video ! I think I'm going to stick with the volante and pick the NDD-7 up as well instead of bothering with the boss offerings. I was not impressed with any of the re-202 demos thus far. I am however impressed with the NUX offering. I love the oled tape indicator for some reason. The modulation options on the NUX are what sold it for me... Now to find one soon.

You'll have to wait for the general release in a couple of month's time, I'm afraid. I'm still waiting for my RE-202 atm, but I can already tell that this little NUX is gonna give it a good run for its money! The wow + flutter controls, heavenly reverb, plus the clever SOS and momentary oscillation - all in a pedal this small - make it almost a no-brainer. The screen definitely really helps you to keep track of what mode you're in. I'm honestly not sure I could go back to the "four-modes-too-many" selector knob of the RE-series, after this.

Hi, I really want to know if, when in SOS Mode, you can still play with the Time knob to change the playback speed of the loop? Thanks

Hi! No, once the loop is recorded, it can't really be manipulated. For that, you want something like a Red Panda Tensor, or maybe a TC Electronic Ditto X2 or X4. 👍🏼

Q: when in SOS mode, is the echo section available? It isnt on the smaller Tape Core.

Just adding a single preset or making the expression pedal programmable without having to use MIDI might make this a Boss killer (costs less than an RE-2 and half of an RE-202 from what I’ve seen). Although if the final U.K. retail price is low enough I might have to break open the piggy bank.

It's already a RE-20 killer, imo. Especially since that doesn't have MIDI at all, or the ability to save a preset. The RE-202 however, is a whole other story...

The time changes sound staged or stepped instead of smooth. But it has a nice tape echo sound, the features are good. Needs MIDI program changes to be really useful.
