My problem is, as humans and the generation we live in.... Abstaining from sex is a hard nut to crack. Sex was meant to be sacred and a gift to your ordained one by God. Now sex has now become the weapon of mass destruction for the enemy. So trying to send the message to church members that it's okay to also tell a girl child to go out there and have sex before marriage as father is quite fascinating in the world we live in today. The youth of today are looking for ways to have a coping mechanism for each sin they commit. Get the message!

Thats not what the old testament passage was saying. The passage is talking about a woman who has taken a vow not to marry. Not about not having sex before marriage. None of those passages was saying the parent should be allowed to decide when the child can have premarital sex. It's rather about deciding when their child can get married. In the bible virgin and unmarried are synonymous.

I followed the scriptures he quoted , especially 1 corinthains 7 :36 -38 And it's been interpreted wrongly. 1 Corinthians 7:36-40 New International Version 36 If anyone is worried that he might not be acting honorably toward the virgin he is engaged to, and if his passions are too strong[a] and he feels he ought to marry, he should do as he wants. He is not sinning. They should get married. 37 But the man who has settled the matter in his own mind, who is under no compulsion but has control over his own will, and who has made up his mind not to marry the virgin-this man also does the right thing. 38 So then, he who marries the virgin does right, but he who does not marry her does better So again , Pastor Obed is twisting a lot of things here. Because he is making it seem like Paul was referring to the father of the girl, isn't 1 corinthains 7 :36-38, but it isn't so.

I'm personally not a fan of some of the messages of Pastor Obed but listening to the video he is not saying that they should sleep with a man they are not married to but rather in the portion that is cut to use to say that is what he said he was rather using a scenario from the OT to make his point, So when he said "I'm you father he wasn't referring to himself in that context but rather to the father of the girl that made the vow. There are cultural norms that may have been permitted under the old testament and prior to it that may not be permitted under the new examples are leveret marriage and marriage of more than one woman and such things when it come to addressing them much wisdom must be applied on the part of both the listeners and the teachers.

I went back to look for this sermon and truly it is disingenuous for people to take a snippet off this man’s entire sermon to twist it for whatever reasons. So basically, his message is just saying that it is the father/family that gives permission for marriage, not the pastor/church. I guess this is why people (especially Africans) take traditional marriage more serious than “white” weddings, because it is in traditional marriage that men ask for, and fathers/families give their daughters “permission” to “have sexual relations” with the man she is given to or that is “asking for permission” . You can go to the church for blessings “after your father gives your hand in marriage”, but you are NOT “married” if the father/family does not approve! Even in church or the civil wedding, they always ask a very important question “who gives this woman to be married to this man?” To which the father/family responds “I do”. It’s really clear what he is preaching. The way people turned this thing is not right. The scriptures this pastor read both from old and New Testament are very clear!
