VIDEO: PURBECK ON FILM

This film is from the Windrose DVD "Purbeck on Film", made by the charity's predecessor, Trilith Rural Media. It features three films with three distinct stories:
SECOND WORLD WAR FARMING at Church Knowle near Corfe Castle, showing the transition from horses to machines. The film was shot, amazingly, on German colour film. Farmers Nancy and Howard Stevens explain why it happened and remember how they lived and worked during the early 1940s.
CORFE CASTLE, its life and its people in 1937. Sculptor Mary Spencer-Watson also remembers the artistic community of the area and especially the film's makers, singers David Brynley and Norman Notley.
SEASIDE HOLIDAYS at Swanage in the early 1930s. Sheila Clarke, whose father made the films, recalls childhood memories of blissful summers in Purbeck.
