A good review, it's indeed a lovely set to have, though I cannot recommend getting the KO mini one which falls apart and turns to dust when you get it out of packaging. Hot Spot actually has four/five modes. Robot, Truck and Repairbay shown. But he also sports a carrier mode for his truck form and also a base mode that can connect up with Metroplex. Like the other leaders, he too was intended to have a launcher, but that gimmick got scrapped.

the socket of the arms where the heads go in ... they can be pulled out a bit so the arms get a bit more movement ;) cool review again :)

Damn you got all of the protectobots, it was really difficult to buy a whole set of combiners in my city back in 1986 when all this was coming out here. Streetwise and Hotspot were impossible to find. Only combiners set I was able to find in my city back in the 80s was Bruticus, Superior, Computron (scattershot was a very well made toy) and Devastator. So many incomplete bots from those days. :(

I always loved this Autobot. I hated the scale thing as well, also most robot forms were bad...but we don't have to worry about that anymore with advanced technology making Transformers!! I wish someone was thinking back then with these G1 robots, i would of made motorcycles scale and they could Transform into the head or something more practical for the size they should be. Same goes with ambulance and cars for Defensor, they aren't scale either they should be the same size as the original G1 autobots, they could of had Ratchet as one of the Protectobots, as well as Inferno. But i guess the more Autobots the better!

Yeah, Predaking is the best G1 combiner. I also have a KO Menasor (the one with a couple of Technobots instead of two Stunticons). They´re just fun to have in your shelf.

I see it as the Protectobots came first, mostly because the Aerialbots were made and the Protectobots kinda came out of nowheres, already with their own base. It would suggest that they came down with the Autobots and decided to make their own base.

The only complaint I have about G1 Defensor, and this is the same for most of the combiners, is the tabs that go into Hot Shot's legs are incredibly difficult to insert. I mean, I have three copies of Hot Shot, and for all three it feels like the tabs will break while inserting and removing them. I'm not sure how to fix this problem, other than not ever combine them. Oh, and the feet don't always fit the holes correctly.

Nice one! I agree, the medical bay mode is rather pants, but nowhere near as pant's as Motormaster's base mode! This is one toy I think I should keep an eye out for at Auto Assembly, ta very muchly ;)

The Predacons first appeared attacking Blur & Wheelie on Jupiter's moon Io but they never explained how the Predacons were created. The Terrorcons just showed up in the episode "Grimlock's New Brain" the episode that Grimlock getting smart and builds the Technobots in Unicron's head and feeds his smarts into Computron, but never explained how the Terrorcons where formed they just appear and reek havoc in battling the Autobots on Unicron's head.

Go with TFC Toys Pronetheus, as good as that looks as it is finished, TFC's Defensor looks as close to the G1 version as it gets. :)

Hmmm. Which KO combiner set had two Terrorcons in it? Was it Computron? Whatever, at least the KO makers REALIZED that mixing and matching the combiners was a fun thing to do. The combiners are all pretty fun, IMO. I currently have Computron, Menasor, and Bruticus. I'd like to hunt down more, but...Bruticus was the most expensive of them, and I'm NOT feelin' the price points on many of the other sets...both genuine AND KO. It almost worries me how overpriced the Predaking KO set may be!!

Sweet...Weird this is there are ALOT of well made knock-off on the market of Defensor, Devastator and Superion. I have all three. I wouldn't call then knock-offs per se as after careful inspection I believe them to be made from the same molds just repainted. Only five bucks for the whole sets!

YES! In fact, all Scramble City combiners also have the power to swap limbs with each other

@@martinefrensoquigomez7835 It's a pity that Protectobots arrived late on scene in Scramble City OVA otherwise they will do the same attack Menasor did to Superion. if there's ever more episode there should be a scene where Superion and Defensor swaps team members. Note that Hasbro has never be so serious about Scramble Power. not even advertise this ability on these Scramble City Conbiners (and later Combiner Wars/ Unite Warriors) AT ALL. While Takara was very serious about this when it comes to marketings.
