The sole reason for the accident was due to the tug escort not staying with the vessel until it reached open water. If they had, they could have safely navigated the vessel under the bridge despite it's loss of power.

Why don't you show the entire video and what happened prior to impact? It's not like its not available. For anyone interested the full video shows the boat losing power, suddenly regaining it, then adjusting course quickly in the direction of the bridge, then losing power again before impact.

Why are the news agencies all saying that divers have recovered the ship's data recorder , did the captain throw it overboard ??? The ship is still afloat and relatively unscathed. I hope that the family of the deceased will be healthily compensated... sounds like gross negligence to me..... was it the first time a ship crossed this? Isn't there a maximum height of the bridge and the ship that should have been taken into consideration? Was the captain blind drunk or asleep.?.. many questions I'm just happy more lives have not been lost, but sad for those who were sacrificed due to this negligence

montreal/quebec saying to canadian residents their bridge is safe is the biggest joke of all for those not aware before around 10 years ago before it all blew up the mafia was heavily engrained in quebec construction, there was ton of corruption, guidelines were ignored to save cost and required material was cut , overpast and bridge were coming down pieces at a time i did one construction job in quebec after working many years in alberta and thats all it took to understand why everything was falling or dropping, i was told some stupid things in quebec like no need to put verticals bars(rebar in concrete aka the structure) in the wall just 2 horizontal in the bottom like are you kidding me right now thankfully i was the boss and shut that stupidity down
