I have the proper assessment training, and if I had a CHILD whose parent was saying these type of things (gaslighting, deflecting, weird excuses, etc.), I would without question be concerned to the point I would make a call. I know it sounds weird, but I learned a bit of contextual compassion when I did a research project on Aileen Wournos. She did bad things but had a bad start. One would think if someone is going to detain a minor they should involved LEOs right way, but many many moons ago I got caught shoplifting with a friend, we were both under 15 years old.
