Parents teach your kids to swim even if you don’t have a pool. It’s a life must. I’m writing you from the Navy Seal location, Coronado CA

In Greece, they just throw their toddlers into the water. 😂😂😂 That's how I learned. I don't think ANY Greek person doesn't know how to swim. ❤

$300+ in per kid in our area of Riverside County. And just few intro classes . My husband is disabled and we are living below poverty level. More I live in America (20+ years) more I miss USSR. Sure commies robbed my family into poverty but at least extracurricular activities anything from swimming to music university was free of charge (taxpayer paid). Way to prove commies right, America! 🤦♀️

Then have it government subsidized so all low income can learn. Currently only wealthy can afford it.

Even if children have this training, they should still not be left alone around water. Thankfully these parents were close by to assist.

If you have a pool, swimming lessons are a must for any child. My son had lessons when he turned one year old. He rode his tricycle right into the pool when I was out there with him. I dove into the pool and got under him but he was already clawing his way to the surface. I literally jumped out of my shoes as they were pointed the away from the pool.

I was a foster parent (toddlers) long ago, and brought each of them for training because we had a pool. Great stuff, but no substitute for a fence with full visibility (we had 6' vertical bar wrought iron to impede climbing), a self closing gate with an additional combination lock, and constant supervision. I wouldn't have been able to live with myself if a child had been hurt, and I'd only been able to say "well, they had training". In short, it's a good additional safety layer, but I hope nobody relies on it

Exactly. In this case the parent was with them, but suppose a child who was alone hit their head while falling into the pool. An unconscious person even with skills cannot save themselves.
@starshine358813 сағат бұрын
You can’t let the fact that a child has lessons that they will always be able to save themselves. It’s still your responsibility as a parent to make sure the children can’t get near a pool or other water source. What if he would have hit his head…he would have died if no one was there to save him….and children who are too eager to be in water will find a way to get to water when parents might not be paying attention or busy working around the house. Don’t think he’s still not in danger just because he’s had some training…because you will regret it one day when his training doesn’t save him.

Back in 1980 a special swimming teacher came to our house and taught me 3 month old sister to swim. She'd toss the baby in the pool and just kick to the surface and float until someone fished her out. This really works
@lf406115 сағат бұрын
Most babies when tossed in a pool will not automatically know how to turn over or float so, please, people do not think you can just do that and they will learn. Professionals, who teach toddlers, work in teaching very basic steps one at a time, like just starting with being held in the water and then learning to make bubbles, et.

When you live near water, training to swim or float is so important. My parents made sure we had lessons early on. I did the same for my sons, yet this was not a thing 20 yrs ago.

Well he did what he was taught if facing a situation like that, however the adults here didn't do their part in securing that pool with high fencing and gates, smh.
@maryoleary203716 сағат бұрын
What are you talking about? Watch the video again and observe that the pool area is fully enclosed with a high wooden fence. The parents were in the pool area and the child was supervised. Obviously when they are not in the pool area the gate is closed and the fence is too high for a child to climb. You were so very quick to judge.

This training is good. I’ve seen it done where parents bring the child to the pool and the child goes in with all its clothes on to simulate an accidental fall into water❤

Even with swim lessons, what if he had hit his head when he fell in? Then What? Need a fenced in area for the pool either way!

My mother taught us at a young age. I taught my daughter also. I started her in a pool. Then the river. Our area is surrounded by the Swift and Androscoggin rivers.

One of my biggest fears was falling into a pool and being wrapped up in the cover.
@meghoughton56217 сағат бұрын
Bravo to the parents! I would NEVER trust a simple gate or alarm with a baby or toddler around. It's all about *equipping* your child to survive these different scenarios.
@starshine358813 сағат бұрын
This training is fine to have…but parents shouldn’t think their child isn’t still in danger and need to make sure children never access the water by themselves. What if the child would have hit his head before falling in…he wouldn’t have been able to save himself…so the most important thing is to make sure he can’t access the pool area without an adult being present.
@CatCat-v5g30 минут бұрын
As well as life-saving lessons, please put a safety BARRIER/FENCE around your pool parents! It should be a legal requirement. Failure to do so, is also failure to protect, which ultimately is tantamount to neglect. Glad the little guy is okay, but the hesitation of the father to jump in, & the mothers response (just bc the child has had a few lessons?) was horrible to see.

we grew in water, its almost natural for them to start so young and so smart. if i had babies, this is what id put them in for SURE. and a side effect, they learn young not fear water.

Boys will push or through you in water, they will save you once they stop laughing 🤣 a shame and you almost dead. So you gotta swim, run and fight with boys. 😊😊😊😊😊 Still swim now lol 😝. I have 2 children, my son a fish in water, my daughter swim good enough to save self lol 😆
