General rule of thumb is “dimmers” that rotate from off then high to low are solid state speed controls made for ceiling fans. although loud, they work fine and don’t hurt fans. Real light dimmer switches rotate off then low to high or push on/off are bad for fans. Although occasionally you see fan controls that go low to high and dimmers that go high to low so it’s worth checking the control. usually says on the control itself its intended purpose. If it is a dimmer switch on the fan, it’s still messing with the fan, even on the highest dimmer setting. either way, just keep the chain set to high. also, those bahamas are made by CEI. they were sold at payless cashways

I have been familiar with the classification of dimmers vs solid state. These fans will not be around much longer. They are doomed to end up in a dumpster now. According to the manuals for the Bahamas, they are tied to Mastercraft which is interesting.

@@FANtasticFans82 mastercraft is likely some sort of label. The motor is definitely CEI (Compass East Industries)

You could say that, grandpa is dead and grandma cant stay there. The house is no longer tied to anyone in our family as of today.

Nope. 153, Bahama never really used larger motors. They definitely were above average. They were the store brand for Payless Cashways and affiliated names.
