It breaks the heart that we here in North America are straying away from the type of quality, craftsmanship, and legacy represented here

This video makes me sad. I worked there the last 10 years it was open. My in laws family had also worked at Gibbards for generations. Many of us in the plant photo shown at the end of this video have a very hard time now going down by what is left of this plant. I think it should have been made into a museum. Thanks for sharing this video!

I have a Gibbard sideboard, i have had it for at least 40 years and it is still a beautiful thing. Being from Belleville i know the old plant in Napanee very well. I was so disappointed then it closed. Thanks for the history. I agree about the museum. Not just a bunch of condos.

I have a Gibbard cocktail table but I can't find out anything about it. I stripped off the top layer and it's beautiful woodgrain but it's very red no matter what I use to stain or seal. If anyone knows what kind of wood this is let me know please. It has a bottom tier and around the band it had a raised scroll decor about every 6 inches. I would love a picture of the original.

My guess the wood is cherry. Please check out the Lennox and Addington County Museum in Napanee since they have an entire exhibit on Gibbard furniture. Their expert staff should be able to help you. www.lennox-addington.on.ca/museum-archives

A shame. This is likely fabulous quality. Why aren't any young people taking this plant? Peace & Lysergic

And now, the building is being gutted like a fish.

To make way for "trendy" living, guaranteed no-one else will be able to use that part of the waterfront unless you're a resident
