I really hoped it would have been the Sony EV-C500E as I can’t get my one to load up and run properly.

Hi, just followed your excellent video and repaired my Paradigm PDR10 in exactly the same way as you did including the mistake which as you correctly pointed out actually was the best way after all. Just wanted to say thank you without videos like this I wouldn’t of had the confidence to take on the challenge 👍🏻

What’s the easiest way to remove the speaker from the box

I have that exact sub, and after 20 years of use it needs the exact repair you completed. I was going to throw it out, but so much better to be able to fix it.
@video99couk3 жыл бұрын
It would be quite expensive to replace with something of similar quality, so repair is well worth it.

My Paradigm PS 1000 has lost it's volume and when I turn the volume up it pops and clicks. I'm hoping it is the cone. It's 31 years old and I'd like to save it. I'll follow your video as it's a great example showing step by step. Thanks.

It's probably the cone, certainly check that out first.

I have a Paradigm PS-1000 V4 speakers. Your video was helpful for replacing the foam surround. However there is an issue with the spider as it’s grooves are inconsistent. The part number of the speaker is 2010821040. By any chance do you know the part number on the PDR10? It will be on the back of the magnet. Thank you!
@video99couk2 жыл бұрын
I've just reviewed the unreleased footage from the cabinet reassembly and I can just make out the part number. It seems to be: B156WFPDR1000S

I will be fixing mine in the next few weeks. Do you recommend a repair as you did or a complete woofer swap, maybe something from JL audio or something?
@video99couk4 жыл бұрын
A complete replacement wasn't available for this and even when they were, it was almost as much as a new bass unit. I would definitely go for the repair.

I did the same repair and noticed a higher frequency rattling noise. I'm not sure what's causing it. The foam surround was as centered as I could get it
@video99couk4 жыл бұрын
I would try to do the experiment of feeding it with a low frequency and try to detect where the noise is. It could be that the speaker finished up off-centre and is scraping the voice coil inside the magnet, but it could be simple like there's something loose.
@NationDarkness4 жыл бұрын
@@video99couk I thought it was the scraping from it being off centre but it felt the same when I shifted the cone all around so I think it's centered
@video99couk4 жыл бұрын
@@NationDarkness If there's nothing loose then it might be a damaged voice coil. Bad.

Loverly job colin :-D Yes i saw the missing step without the glue but i knew you would get that uneasy feeling that something was wrong. And now it's like new again :-D I see that pva as wood glue from school woodwork classes, i wasn't very good but i enjoyed it :-D I'm also subscribed to simon and the circle of like minded frends. Shango066 is really good at repairing radio/tv's and he did some speaker re-coneing, a very clever man. I do like his sarcastic way, he takes no prisoners ha ha :-D
@video99couk4 жыл бұрын
Already subscribed to Shango066, one I would recommend, along with 12voltvids. I had some PVA wood glue already but specifically bought this "Tacky Glue" PVA glue for this repair, it's a little less runny.

@@video99couk yep ive been subscribed to 12voltvids for a few years, he knows his electronics but he has angry days where he throws his toys out of the pram, but i still like him :-D. You seem quite forgiving of pillocks like me lol :-D.

Just so you know, your video shows up in the google search with the thumbnail from my pdr-10 repair video! (That view inside of the box facing the woofer.) I do not know how that happened! It is weird, just thought I’d let you know.

Weird. I've just replicated it. That's just crazy, I don't know what's going on there.

video99.co.uk sometimes, Google images can be funny. I have ran across other videos on there with the wrong thumbnail, just never MY thumbnail. Seems to be a common problem with Google. I literally searched the model of the speaker, nothing else.

Only 10 years before the foam surround failed, that's terrible. If they wanted to use foam for acoustic reasons they should've mixed it with rubber like Technics did on the 8" bass drivers of my SB-CS9 speakers, which still have perfectly intact surrounds.
@video99couk3 жыл бұрын
It's not unusual for foam surrounds to do this unfortunately. But it was a satisfying repair!
