@@mjb20077 Not surprising, given that it never saw release outside of Japan until the 3DS' eShop. It's a Famicom game that played similar to the original Legend of Zelda, though with more of a time-based level focus than the free-roaming exploration of Zelda.

@@mjb20077 You absolutely should. It's only $5, and despite being untranslated, you can still play it without getting confused because there's pretty minimal text. It's challenging too, as many games of its time were, but what's nice is that it gives you a fair challenge, provides you with some extra lives, and lets you pick up from the start of whatever level you last got a Game Over on.

I really hope The Mysterious Murasame Castle gets a revival some day, or at the very least Takamaru finally becomes a playable character in Smash Bros. Nintendo REALLY seems to have an affinity for the game to not do anything with it.

Sakurai tried multiple times to get Takamaru in Smash, ever since the very first game, with the only reason he never succeeded being the higher-ups thought the character is too obscure. Takamaru has gone on to be an Assist twice with music from The Mysterious Murasame Castle present in three consecutive games and a Takamaru Mii costume available, the game has been rereleased on 3DS, Wii U and NSO, it was represented in Nintendo Land, a remake has been talked about for a good decade now... I definitely agree that Nintendo seems to really adore this game and want it to be better known so they can do more with it at some point.
