Seriously one of the best channels for cinematography education, without the superficial trending format to sell it. Peace!

My two cents... videography is about providing information; it's a journalistic discipline where light is used to help deliver the information, so you are looking for clarity or at best lighting to help reinforce the information that is being broadcast. Videography is also an end to end function that includes directing, editing and production. Cinematography is about providing art; you use the camera like a paintbrush on a canvas & lighting is therefore used to establish moods, Cinematographers only light and film and rarely have any other involvement. The fashion is to say that cinematography is better than videography, it's not, it's just a different discipline. For me the biggest difference is that I can pay the mortgage as a videographer and look good as a cinematographer.

Great idea of lighting and practicing, although if we assume the finals setup is motivated by the 2 ceiling lamps, the edge on the prota would be way softer due to the distance and lamp cover and would come from a steeper angle. The second light for filling on would also come more from the aide with a wrap. Now od qssume there is a window with sunrise etc.

Like a said before. In this scene you can play with light in sort of different ways. I show just one of them for now. It’s warm up)

I can’t stand that all these creators are now buying these cameras with open gate and don’t know how to crop properly. This box from the open gate is getting really annoying.

You’ve never seen an uncropped 3:2 aspect ratio? It’s quite common and has been used through cinema, especially 4:3. No one has to crop anything, these are subjective aesthetics. Majority of cameras nowadays shoot 16:9 with 3:2 OG as an option. That mean, in many cases, when someone chooses to shoot in 3:2, they are doing it for the 3:2 ratio. So, why would they crop it (rhetorical question)? Now I shoot in 3:2 OG and often crop into 21:9, but not because I have to. Simply because I prefer 21:9 for that specific shot, sometimes a 3:2 aspect ratio works better. That’s just something you as a viewer will have to deal with.

@@Eyeofkamauwhen did i say i never say this aspect ratio? You’re mistaken its not a common aspect. It used to be when televisions were made at that aspect but they dont make them like that anymore so its no longer common. Common aspect is 16:9 just like all the televisions sold today. The only reason to shoot at that aspect is to crop properly in post and you have the flexibility to crop horizontal or vertical with no quality loss. But to leave it uncropped is just dumb now we have big bard on both sides that are worse than the slight crop you get when shooting anamorphic. No one wants to look at this aspect ratio. Its not even creative now. Its just dumb to waste all that space just because.

@@TheBenjaminBanks the aspect ratio of OG for most prosumer cameras is 3:2, because most prosumer cameras have a 3:2. So, you didn’t need to say the aspect ratio, it’s natural a part of open gate on many cameras. Also you’re talking about conventional use case, like TV’s. I’m talking about film production, where it is and has been commonly used for well over a decade. To say something is dumb when it’s completely subjective is silly. That’s your opinion, not a objective fact. 3:2 fills majority of the screen (if not all of it) on MacBook laptops and mac desktops. Just because you are watching on a widescreen cellular device doesn’t mean every creator should accommodate your opinion lol
