When should you call yourself a videographer, cinematographer, filmmaker, or director of photography?
I think that these roles are becoming more similar with every passing year, but there are a few key differences. Knowing how to define yourself will help you move towards the kind of work you want to end up doing.

I guess I’m classified as a videographer but I am learning more cinematography techniques especially with lighting

Thanks for the speech! I started as a videographer and step by step I started doing more creative things, but I didn't know the formal rules and roles in the cinema world. And I was getting a little anxious entering to that intimidating formal world. Thanks!

So good to come across this video... I call myself a Video Producer (since I can handle shoots and edits both) but I've also seen the term video specialist (sounds a little boring to me though)... One question, can a video producer call themselves a filmmaker as well? (sounds a bit pretentious and misleading)

I like this... because there are different categories. I think people should be ok with being creative and knowing what their lane is. Good video

I do video editing but I think I'm more of videography but cinematography is where I'm heading to. Video producer may work for me because I do more of video editing like shooting interviews and music videos.

Great video! I have an analogy for that. I am a acoustic upright bass player. The bass shares a lot of notes with the cello, (every time I get on an elevator I get the question, "is that a cello?). I can play cello pieces on the bass... but it still a bass, and cellos can't sound like basses. I call my self a KZbinr because I make videos for KZbin, but there are more successful KZbinrs that make millions of $. I think you can call yourself whatever but, are you a successful "whatever" or are you a struggling "whatever?" I know I am a struggling KZbinr, but I am a successful musician though. I would like to be a "money making KZbinr," but the only way I can get to that is by starting somewhere and making mistakes, and listening to other people's opinions, and keep learning new techniques of camera, editing etc. Some day... I will be what I call myself today...does that make sense? It's visualization.
