If somebody starts screaming at me from the 1st second of their video, trying to be super cool and hyperactive, that is an immediate click-off. No matter how appealing their title and thumbnail was. Also when they ask me to like and subscribe before showing anything, 'but before we start, make sure you like and subscribe...' = immediate click-off.

Just started listening to both of you a few weeks ago while out running and it's made a world of difference for my channel. The decision pathway for each video I produce has changed drastically, it's been painful, but I've been seeing results. My intros still leave a lot to be desired, especially my older videos of course. Some of my intros are downright bizarre in retrospect. Like they're full of energy but don't tease the climax or deliver on the promise shown in the title/thumbnail. It's as if a subconscious part of myself knew I needed a burst of energy but didn't know where to direct it conceptually.

I film birds for cats, dogs and birdwatchers. My videos are typically over an hour, so for each intro I take some of my favorite clips and make a little 20 sec montage followed by my logo and a call to action then it gets right into the footage. Altogether the intro is about 30 secs long. People usually stick around for the entire intro then a lot drop off. I’m wondering if I should just edit my entire video like my intros now. 🧐

The flashy intro might be good if it's a first time visit but after that it's wasting my time. I timed a video the other day and it was 1:30 before the video started. It was a canned intro so it's on every video. It's not a sitcom so you don't need a bumper.

The graphical intros you mock used to be THE standard. When me and so many other started in 2010, not having a graphical splashy intro video before you video started, was a sign that you were a small channel. I had one and used it for years.

Hi, I have a Tarot reading channel, as you can tell from my channels name. As so most Tarot readers & myself throw out a disclaimer which takes up all the intro time. Is this resulting in a viewer drop off? I also think a certain word in my channels name (sometimes coupled with certain words in my title) bring in people searching for something totally different, dose this also cause a viewer drop off?
