Yaman has melancholy as one of her colour. It's not the Bhimpalashi anguish, Jaunpuri disappointment or Kanara tears of loss. But it instils a controlled, earthly sadness in your mind and there comes the soft lamentation of Vidushi's voice. It bends me.

Ritwik Arya all three Raags Yaman,yaman kalyan,kalyan are same.....it has shudh madhyam as a vivadi swar!

shuddha madhyam is sometimes used for ornamentation :D the chalan of the raga still conforms with that of Raag Yaman.
