VIE Speaks Episode 19: "A Change-Maker for Good" - A Conversation with Julian Lennon

In celebration of his new exclusive fine-art photography collection released by General Public Art and RH (formerly Restoration Hardware), Julian Lennon sits down with our host, VIE CEO/editor-in-chief Lisa Marie Burwell, for this exciting episode of VIE Speaks. Lennon is a renowned musician, author, poet, photographer, and humanitarian whose list of achievements only continues to grow. He teamed up with Portia de Rossi to release his new photography collection via her General Public Art gallery, whose mission is to bring high-quality work from artists worldwide to the public by using a cost-effective 3-D printing method that makes prices more accessible. The collection is now available for sale exclusively through RH, with a portion of proceeds going to Lennon's White Feather Foundation. He also speaks about his award-winning graphic novel, The Morning Tribe, and the newly released Netflix documentary he produced, Kiss the Ground, narrated by Woody Harrelson. With a new studio album on the way and many more creative endeavors in the works, we look forward to keeping up with Lennon and sharing more from him in a future issue of VIE magazine!

I think Julian is such lovely and thoughtful person. I would love to be able to sit and listen to his views. I am very intrigued by him. I was in junior high school when the Beatles were famous so was not familiar with his beliefs and/or life, but he's a very thoutful and lovely person. Glad i got to listen to this. 😊

Have to admit I'm a little weirded out after naively entering this interview out of curiosity about how the wrongly forsaken son of a world renowned artist is doing now. A minute or two taken to satisfy curiosity turned into an entire 26 minute immersion into a fully realized individual of great decency and accomplishment that leaves the viewer wanting more. By the end of the interview, the only thought of John Lennon was to ponder if he had lived, would he have achieved the same level of humanity and wisdom enjoyed by his progeny. The grasshopper becomes the wise instructor. Such is life. Our little planetary vortex always finds balance one way or the other. Thanks for that. A very good interview.

I am glad that Julian is good with his father but I - myself - am not able to tamp down my own fury. Julian deserved so much more. Jesus. While his father is singing songs of peace and devoting his life to his new little boy (Sean), he fkking abandons his first child? Nothing Lennon has done - no matter how great - can make up for that -- for me. Yes, John Lennon was a complicated man, yes he was an icon, yes he was talented. but abandoning Julian burns. So hypocritical and so wrong. Good for Julian for owning his own life.

It's sad to say this but I think Julian is the person he is because he DIDN'T have a close relationship with his Father who was actually a very selfish, angry and tormented individual. He is the person John SHOULD have been and I admire the way his mother raised him. She actually deserves a LOT of the credit for who this man came to be. Just goes to show people can grow and mature through adversity. He is a living proof of that.
