Weekday afternoon drive around the center of Vienna Austria on my recent visit. A global European city similar to London and Paris. Don't leave Vienna off your list when traveling through Europe!

Vienna, Austria’s capital, lies in the country’s east on the Danube River. Its artistic and intellectual legacy was shaped by residents including Mozart, Beethoven and Sigmund Freud. The city is also known for its Imperial palaces, including Schönbrunn, the Habsburgs’ summer residence. In the Museums Quartier district, historic and contemporary buildings display works by Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt and other artists. ― Google
Vienna (Wien) is the capital, largest city, and one of nine states of Austria. Vienna is Austria's most populous city, with about two million inhabitants (2.9 million within the metropolitan area, nearly one third of the country's population), and its cultural, economic, and political center. It is the 6th-largest city proper by population in the European Union and the largest of all cities on Danube river.
Today, it is the second-largest German-speaking city after Berlin. Vienna is host to many major international organizations, including the United Nations, OPEC and the OSCE. The city is located in the eastern part of Austria and is close to the borders of the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary. These regions work together in a European Centrope border region. Along with nearby Bratislava, Vienna forms a metropolitan region with 3 million inhabitants. In 2001, the city center was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Additionally, Vienna is known as the "City of Music" due to its musical legacy, as many famous classical musicians such as Beethoven and Mozart called Vienna home. Vienna is also said to be the "City of Dreams" because it was home to the world's first psychoanalyst, Sigmund Freud. Vienna's ancestral roots lie in early Celtic and Roman settlements that transformed into a Medieval and Baroque city. It is well known for having played a pivotal role as a leading European music center, from the age of Viennese Classicism through the early part of the 20th century. The historic center of Vienna is rich in architectural ensembles, including Baroque palaces and gardens, and the late-19th-century Ringstraße lined with grand buildings, monuments and parks.
Vienna is known for its high quality of life. In a 2005 study of 127 world cities, the Economist Intelligence Unit ranked the city first (in a tie with Vancouver and San Francisco) for the world's most livable cities. Between 2011 and 2015, Vienna was ranked second, behind Melbourne. Monocle's 2015 "Quality of Life Survey" ranked Vienna second on a list of the top 25 cities in the world "to make a base within". Monocle's 2012 "Quality of Life Survey" ranked Vienna fourth on a list of the top 25 cities in the world "to make a base within" (up from sixth in 2011 and eighth in 2010). The UN-Habitat classified Vienna as the most prosperous city in the world in 2012-2013. The city was ranked 1st globally for its culture of innovation in 2007 and 2008, and sixth globally (out of 256 cities) in the 2014 Innovation Cities Index, which analyzed 162 indicators in covering three areas: culture, infrastructure, and markets. Vienna regularly hosts urban planning conferences and is often used as a case study by urban planners. Between 2005 and 2010, Vienna was the world's number-one destination for international congresses and conventions. It attracts over 6.8 million tourists a year.

@@austriankangaroo cars is hell and i agree with that. They should be more bicycle friendly instead of being more like United States. But it is a very good city tho!

@@zaranski2009 true, bicycles and public transport should get a high priority. Sometimes a tram waits several minutes at a red light. But I think that even with car traffic signals we can learn a lot from the nl to reduce congestion and make traffic more fluid. I just hope the gv does something about that

No way! That "highest quality of life" label is just a statistic. Three friends of mine are living in Vienna and they would confirm what I say ... 🤷🏼‍♂️

That was the result of a survey an outlet did to Germans that were old and rich most of them answered that Vienna and some unknown German cities were the best in the world for living, note thet they did the same thing with Chinese person's instead of Germans and there answers was completely different.

To my astonishment, lo and behold Vienna! Good job as usual. Vienna is a city with beautiful architecture overall but I always find it quite boring. The Ring, despite boasting many of the fantastic Vienna's must-sees, to me has always been a lonely in some places, maybe inhospitable avenue. As well as quite a few streets in the city centre.

One of the greatest and most beautiful cities in Europe, Vienna - for centuries the seat of the Holy Roman Empire - is holding the title of the most liveable city in the world for several years in a row. You can still feel the glory of Habsburg Empire there - unlike the major cities in Germany, which are dirty and ugly as f**k, Vienna is very clean and well organized.

For the neighborhoods of Chapinero, El Chico, Teusaquillo, Usaquén, it would be much better. The center of Bogotá is currently in chaos, there are many construction sites.
