Wow great footage! Make sure they do not catch you, because I think there was not one second in this Video where you were flying in an area where you would have been allowed to do so with an mavic. I don't think I dare to fly with my mavic in front of the parlament for example. But hey no risk, no fun!

you are allowed to fly a Mavic in Austria, but not areas where there are buildings and for sure not in NoFlyZones. Whole Vienna is a strict NoFlyZone. And if you are filming you need to register at the Austro Control. If you are just flying you only need an insurance and stick to some rules. As Hans mentioned below, most people don't know the laws and as long as you do not put your real name on KZbin you are pretty secure ;-)

well it would be about 250€ to register and it took me 3,5 month to get the general permission. But you are not allowed to fly within 150m of any buildings or other people. Actually you are nearly not allowed to fly anywhere even if you got the permission. You would need a proper drone with dual system to have a chance to receive single permissions to fly over buildings or at events.

Vienna is an restricted area (LOR). Meaning, even after registering your drone with austro control you can't fly there. It requires a special permission. But you will not get any kind of permission to fly above Vienna with a mavic because it's a quadcopter -> no reduncancy. Registrations costs currently 330 Euro and takes at least two month. A Mavic will be permitted to fly in "Einsatzgebiet II" at max, meaning: only above inhabited areal. It's not possible to get permit in Austria to fly over city. Populated zonez are no go. Pretty sure he did it without permit.

I was planning to buy a mavic too, but since i have read all the restictions about drones in austria and particularly in vienna i gave me dream flying a drone up. Thx a lot, i´ll see maybe i get one, but you are right-austria has really the most stupid laws in whole EU. I wouldnt bother to register my drone once i have one, but the next problem is you have to pay 350 EUR per year to be able to fly it. Its just amazing how greedy the government and you have to have an insurance for the drone :( I dont know i am in a dilemma, i would try to sneak one up, but since the fines are up to 22.000 EUR i am not sure if i am willing to risk it. Maybe i have to move to another country ;)
