My dad landed on omaha beach the morning of june 6th, d-day. I noticed the monument for the 6th engineers special brigade. My dad was part of that brigade. He was in the 147th combat engineers. He was in the coast guard LCI US 91. It hit a mine as it neared the beach, then it was pummeled by german 88's. He finally made it on shore and eventually scaled the cliff. He passed 4-1-13. Not a day goes by that i don't miss him & my mom. They were part of the greatest generation.
