The riders should've had their legs under the wings as they rode the ostrich. Riding with legs over the wings is like riding someone piggy back while pinning their arms to their sides, not comfortable or natural in either situation one would think.

Ostriches aren’t an object to exploit as if they were in an amusement park! Why do people believe their whims are more important to follow then considering the consequences to all concerned. Only the offspring have a place on the backs of an adult ostrich.
