The mindset of nationalism and the historical experience of being colonized have led to an interesting narrative logic , where the history is described as a history of struggle against invaders. To highlight its people's courage maybe, I just assume. This is the case for South Korea, North Korea, and Vietnam as well，different from countruies like japan， which was not colonized.
