20:30 The sticky rice yogurt is actually one of the most favorable dessert in Viet Nam. In my opinion, it's even more famous than the egg coffee with local Vietnamese. Together with red bean sweet, the teacher usually treats student before their university exam. It is belived to bring good luck and bless you. I hope to see more of your sticky rice because with the local people, it really our traditional dish. May be you guys will find the taste a little bit weird but I hope you guys like it.

Glad you like our coffee! Vietnamese coffee beans are specifically used because they are ground extremely finely and are robusta beans, meaning they are very strong and a little chocolatey. I use Trung Nguyen Gourmet Blend (the red one) to brew over here in America, and a lot of us also use Cafe Du Monde coffee and chicory blend. The device used to brew is just a simple pour-over drip style device called a Phin which aerates the coffee as it brews, and also brews very strong coffee, as the water moves through the grounds slowly.

Robusta beans are considered inferior in the West and are often used to make instant coffee.In the West Aribica beans are preferred for good quality coffee.Not a criticism,just an observation…😀

I've been to Vietnam and love their desserts too! But you showed me many I never tried! Just an FYI, the prices you mentioned in Dalat seemed high, but of course they were in nice indoor restaurants. In Hanoi I've only paid 5-7000K (about 23 to 46 cents US) for Che, but this would at street food places.

You are so correct! Vietnamese don't use sugar int their coffee, they only use condensed milk and that's what makes their coffee so classic, so unique, so tasty. In my opinion, Vietnam has the best coffee, and also the strongest coffee in the world.

I love all the cute and unique restaurants/shops in Da Lat!! I need those adorable egg coffee cups with their own warmers in my life now. If you want to drink condensed milk with your coffe at home, make sure you're using a bitter coffee to counter/contrast it (Viets in the US were using Cafe du Monde from New Orleans for decades when they couldn't get Viet coffee, but now they can order Trung Nguyen brand coffee on Amazon along with the phin filter). BTW, when you see the letters tr together, just pronounce it like the letter j. Switch the t and th sounds as they're opposite in Vietnamese. :)

Since you like this kind of coffee, try this. With a large tall glass, put two chicken eggs and condense milk. Fill the cup with ice. And finally, pour a bottle of club soda. It used to be much cheaper than that! Their economy is raising and inflation of course so its a bit more expensive compare when i went. Its affordable because your converting it to vnd to usd. Those coffee used to be in the cents not in the dollars like how it is now. 8 years ago $100 can last you a week in vietnam but now its so different. I remember over 20 years ago japan was so affordable but now tokyo prices are just like new york prices. Too expensive lol

To me, I recommend you guys visit a youtube channel name Max McFarlin and Chirs Lewis, they are usually making videos about Vietnamese Food, I think they usually put the address in the discription also. Max and Chris will show you guys many place that you should go and try food, and some of their videos show you where you guys should go next. 1. Condensed milk coffee (Hot/Ice): It's super strong coffee + condensed milk 2. Milk Coffee (Hot/Ice): It's fresh milk + litlle coffee 3. Bac xiu (Hot/Ice): It's same with Milk coffee but it's condensed milk (just a little coffee for those who can't stand with the strong one) 4. Black coffee (Hot/Ice): Just regular strong Vietnam coffee :) Besides, we do have Americano, Cappuchino, babycino, Latte, blah...blah...

Since daily meals of the locals contains lots of carbohydrate, they dont eat more sweet dishes after meal. They prefer a cup of tea or a piece of fruit instead. Normally if the local eats chè or cake then it is considered a snack or a small meal between big meal so they dont see it a desert. But in most formal parties chè or cake is commonly served as desert. A bit confusing ha?

If you pay attention, you can see that speaking Vietnamese is like singing a song, every word that is spoken must be pronounced at a certain pitch, if not that pitch (or that note), for sure is mispronounced 😅

All the deserts you had were not Vietnamese traditional except the glutinous balls in brown syrup, I'm sorry 😞. There's a coffee shop next to Ho Xuan Huong lake you should try it. It has lake view and their coffee is wonderful. Sorry forgot the name, it's been a long time no coming back.

@@2Passports1Dream Love to see you guys videos. So I don't know where you will head to, because different regions have slightly different deserts. Here's the names for them. Their name will start with BANH or CHE also something else too. Like che banh loc, che dau xanh, che dau do, che troi nuoc( the one with glutinous ball),...and banh bo, banh bot loc ( this has shrimp inside not desert but appetitize, some Banh are appetitize), ... you got to Google them. I'm originally from South Vietnam 😀. Southeast Asia grows rice, sticky rice,coconut, corn,etc... and all kinds of beans( mung bean,red bean ..) so you will see them in the deserts.

I’m so happy VN has been successful in fighting back the franchise movement that is so prevalent throughout the world. VN should be proud of all their individually owned cafes and dessert shops. They are all so unique in their own ways, with distinct looks/characteristics/vibes. Instagram heaven. The other aspects of these non-franchise self owned shops is the pride in ownership and the customer service that are lacking in corporate franchise where the employees are just that, employees earning minimum wage.

Street food culture is something that cannot be beat in Vietnam. Why do we have to choose a burger when we have Bánh Mì, or choose a fried breaded chicken when we have fried chicken wings with fish sauce or a cup of water with coffee flavor when we have had a strong coffee. we all think like that that's why starbuck, mcdonald, KFC... fail in here. So many food we can eat. Fast food in Vn? in here we have flash food Thanks for your kind words

5.30 "Chè trôi nước" or "Water Floting Sweet" is a dish very traditional in VietNam. I think you will get familiar with this dish with the name "Mochi" in Japan. But it still have some different. Mochi in Japan usually goes with red bean, while we usually goes with green bean (the flavour inside). We have some other methods to make it so hope you enjoy it
