Vietnam to Cambodia Visa Border Run

Hey fam, in this video I share my experiences on getting a new Viet Kieu 6 months visa from the border run to Cambodia (Bavet) from Vietnam (Moc Bai). The visa run is fairly straight forward, I used a transportation service 'IzyViet' for my first time but after knowing now what to do - you can easily do it yourself going forward.
IzyViet Bus transporation = $30
Cambodia Visa = $35
Coffee money = 100k VND
Total visa run = $69 USD
IzyViet offers services for driver's license, visa runs etc.

I haven't travelled out of Vietnam recently so I don't know if the proof of vaccine it is still needed or not. Best to ask a professional travel agent about the current entry requirements.

Thanks mate! From my experience, there are ways to extend your visa while still staying in country but require going to an agent which can be quite expensive or going to immigration (which needs proper paperwork).

Hi Khiem, for me all I needed was my passport (with valid visa, expiry time and spare pages) and my proof of my covid vaccinations.

I'm not sure, normally a visa would be enough to get into the country so you'll have to check with someone who knows about this.

You can apply (and I think you shuld) for eVisa for both Cambodia and Vietnam, easier and the Cambodian one is even cheaper than at the Consulate (36 USD vs. 2mn VND/85USD).

Hi Khiem, for me all I needed was my valid passport and 5 year Viet Kieu visa and certificate of Covid vaccination. I didn’t need any passport photos.

For anyone who isn’t a Vietnamese citizen (myself including) it’s more about the type of visa that you’re eligible to apply for: tourist, working or business visa. Each of which have different duration lengths.

There's a 6 months visa exemption which is granted to those who have Vietnamese heritage and is normally done in their home country before coming to Vietnam.

i am unvaccinated. If I do a visa run from vietnam to cambodia, do i need to take covid test? if i test positive for covid, what happens?

I'm not 100% sure about this situation so you'll have to double check with official sources. But I think leaving Vietnam they probably won't require you to do a covid test but entering Cambodia you'll most likely will have to do one. If you test positive then you'll probably have to quarantine and you'll be stuck until you provide a negative result.

What if you have your own bike? Can you just cross with your own Vietnamese license plate bike? or are the border agents there gonna demand exorbitant amounts of coffee and chocolate money?

I haven’t done it myself but my mate said that there is a lot of parking when you get to the Vietnam boarder before you cross over to Cambodia. And that he didn’t have issues with ‘coffee money’ when parking.
