This kills me that He got rid of his Dad's collection instead of enjoying the same hobby or passing them on to his children. I mean, my Fathers coin books had many missing coins.. The dedication the Dad had to get all the books filled is impressive. I am glad that someone will be able to enjoy them. Thank you for sharing this video. :D

My dad was an avid fisherman and I inherited his boat and gear. I’m not a fisherman, so I sold it. You don’t have an obligation to take up your deceased relatives hobbies.

Sell it all and give them the cash if you insist. Don’t make your loved ones feel like crackheads as they’re selling off their inheritance. I’ve seen entire collections of classic cars, watches, and even antique tractors be auctioned off for a quick buck. Tragic imo.

Someday, I’ll sell off my collection but not quite yet ! I hunt for 1800 coins, large cents, 1/2’s and dollar coins mainly and have a few sleepers in the group that are quite valuable I guess. All of them were purchased at great prices in odd auctions from around the country. It’s cool what you can find doing the grunt work and being patient. The hunt is the fun part to me and the love of finding old examples that have stood the test of time and were taken care of by their owners.
