Got a 25x24 coming. I researched flooring, ended up using Prosoco CS/LS hardener densifier right after they cut the relief cuts. Same type stuff used on industrial distribution & manufacturing slabs. Penetrates the top layer & makes it 2 to 3 times as hard as the initial hardness. Now all I need is a building...

Brushed floors hard to sweep, holds grease and dirt, I got a 8 x 14 epoxy floor with 5 years on it with heavy dirty feet traffic, still looks new... I got a 31 x 40 garage slick finish concrete with clear coat on floor going on 40 years still looking good. Work on cars lawn mowers, restore old jeeps, corvettes, many others, run race cars, floor is easy to sweep, clean, roll jacks on, creepers,.and it still looks good. Broom finished concrete is for outside. I wouldn't recommend it in a garage. But I'm glad you like yours....

Just curious why you wouldn’t have them do a slick finish on the slab?
@BOSSC351sProductions4 жыл бұрын
Well for one.... its slick and slippery. Water, oil, and grease added to the situation makes it worse. Imagine a vehicle entering in one side and smashing though the other side because the tires sliding. Or slipping on some rain water mixed with oil residue. It happens. People pay extra to have their slab smooth but turn around and add friction material into the floor paint to get the grip back. Brushed just right, its rough but not to the point it hinders chair roller function. Like I said in the video, work will be performed in my shop. Although the paint I used looks great on the floor and it has been very durable I selected it for function first.

A bit over $13000 on sale for the shop, $5700 for 4-6 inch slab plus the drainage/concrete I added at the front, about $1500 in dirt/rock for the foundation, $1200 for wiring supplies, $200 for RapidAir air line system, and I bought a small tractor for $5000 to work the dirt. All but building the shop and concrete slab work I did or am doing myself. I had extra expenses like a concrete mixer, hammer drill, and tool rentals but that was for my needs. When I have it wired and complete I will make an updated video to show what I have done and why.

Only if code in your area requires it. The guy who did my slab asked me the day he poured it if I wanted footers and if yes it would have delayed the pour. I really don't know enough about why or if it is really needed but mine does not have them.

@@BOSSC351sProductions I don't understand it either. I mean most concrete is poured for 2500PSI, that number will NEVER be reached with the metal building. The whole thing doesnt even weigh 2500lbs probably let alone on a single inch.

As mentioned by BossC351, go to your building department. If you have a slab poured that doesn't meet requirements it will bite you in the ass. All it takes is a nosey or pissed off neighbor to call the county on you. Growing up around construction I can't tell you how many times I'd hear about someone just pouring a slab without footers where they were required and then having to tear it down. Imagine spending 20 grand for a fair sized garage and slab just to be told it has to come down.

How long did it take for them to come out to install it and what was the install time?
@BOSSC351sProductions4 жыл бұрын
Wait was a bit over 3 months and they started the afternoon of a Thursday, worked all day Friday, and finished the build just after 3 on Saturday. You must have your land or slab ready. Make sure your sales rep tells the company you are ready when you place your order. Also, if you have any building codes to meet on the slab or need building permits, you must have all of it in order before scheduled. If not it could delay everything severely.

That building is nice. How do they compare to a equivalent sized pole building on price, strength and water intrusion under the walls?
@BOSSC351sProductions3 жыл бұрын
I really can't answer that because I have no experience with other buildings. This one just withstood 70-80 MPH winds 2 days ago. Water intrusion depends on how your slab is. I have used Sika sealer around the outside perimeter and it keeps water out. I also installed garage door thresholds under the doors. Only other issue is the walk in door. I had the door installed 180° out from normal because I wanted a right hand inswing. Doing that defeated the door seal which normally keeps water out. So I just built my own door awning that will blockwater from hitting the door.

I see. Thanks for the reply and the info. Will come in handy if I purchase a building like yours. Have a good weekend!

With all due respect; why not just make your slab 2" taller and not have to worry about rain water getting in, and having to put that drainage in?
@BOSSC351sProductions3 жыл бұрын
It is taller. The problem I have is a LONG, LONG, LONG story and was mainly created by TXDOT and their idiot contractor who built the highway in front of my house. The way they changed the highway it now tilts at an angle toward my house effectively turning my driveway and yard into a river. The drainage I put in is to mitigate that and route the water in pipe to the back of my property. Really, it has little to do with the shop itself. Believe me, I would not have done it otherwise due to the expense of materials, equipment, and back breaking lifting 65+ bags of 80 lb concrete.
