Good point about price vs. grade. Never really thought about it like that. That idea combines "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" with immediate availability or something along those lines. I like the 36-S nickel example you gave.

Graders at PCGS don't see the grade on the existing holders for crossovers.

@@robertlung2222 They put tape over the grade on the existing holder before it gets sent to the grader. They don't remove it from the existing holder unless it meets the crossover specified by the submitter. If a grader could see the existing grade, it would certainly influence the grade they give.

I have a few NGC and ANACS coins that are labeled "Redfield Hoard". Would PCGS cross them and keep the Redfield designation?
@TheCoinGeek3 жыл бұрын
I’ve never seen them , you’d have to call PCGS . I know they don’t cross over special first day and early release labels
@fernandorivera23953 жыл бұрын
No they most likely won't do it. Your NGC & ANACS coins were already verified by those companies as genuine REDFIELD coins. The moment the coins are cracked out by PCGS for crossover, they will simply be considered as RAW & without the plastic REDFIELD holders in PCGS's presence they will be thought of as regular coins WITHOUT the pedigree. Even though the previous labels mentioned REDFIELD, PCGS won't recognize the provenance, unfortunately

I tried to cross over a beautifully toned MS66 Morgan with PL fields (to me) in a soapbox ANACS holder and NGC called it artificially toned...ugh.
@fernandorivera23953 жыл бұрын
Sucks when that happens. Maybe try to send it over to PCGS instead 🤔

Like finding bills with really low serial numbers -- finding coins with low minting numbers would end up a thing. As would radar coins, and the other things bill collectors collect.

Volume- definitely raw. Even excluding “junk silver” we sell more pieces raw- but dollar wise- those better slabs can add up!

Reserve auctions are lame and hardly any sellers are doing that anymore on eBay. Start the auctions at one cent and create same excitement and large numbers of bids.
@fernandorivera23953 жыл бұрын
Key date coins that usually sell for 4 or 5 figures will never begin at 1 cent in the auctions; not worth it for the sellers nor the buyers who are ready to shell out big bucks to own them

What a great video this is for Sunday, April 18th, no matter when you made it !!! Yes, Ben, “The Coin Geek”🤓 - you should send the herd of 1936-S Indian Head / Buffalo Nickels to ”PIGS,” in order to let them waddle in it because Bison actually do roll on the ground to remove flies and also to help coat their fur against being bitten again in the future; however, I’m not really sure if the expert graders🤣😂🤣 at the grading companies do likewise. I also enjoy your attempts at using excellent English grammar in these video presentations, but you need to CUT OUT the “uhhh” pauses, if possible. I am speaking tomorrow with Director David J. Ryder regarding a 3-coin 2021 Silver Dollar Centennial-Issue Proof Set which will consist of : [1] Morgan Dollar struck in a Brilliant Proof Finish, [2] Peace Dollar struck with a Satin Finish, and [3] Peace Dollar struck with a Matte Finish. These sets will be limited to a maximum of 30,000 and probably be priced at $350 or $395. Limit one per household. Thank you, sir.
