Views of Swords Village in 1980s

Video recorded by Bernard Lenehan in the summer of 1985 (thanks to the sleuths, @banana_man_101 and @philipmcdonagh1094 in the Comments section!), when The Boss's "Born in the USA" and Sister Sledge's "Frankie" were topping the charts, Live Aid was on in Wembley Stadium and a statue of the Virgin Mary was moving down in Ballinspittle.

They were great days back then... I worked in the hawthorn Hotel then.. Lovely people and very friendly..

If you're still on KZbin, I have some information on the date. At 8:45 , it shows a bus with a CIÉ logo on it. CIÉ would be dissolved (or atleast, stopped doing transport by itself) in 1987, which means this was in 1986.

Then there is no new reg cars that started Jan 87, plus the new Superquinn been built 6:52 puts it Summer1985.

I was gonna guess '85.I remember one year we all had a baseball jacket like ye' man at the door of the snooker hall.

I had some of the best years of my life there in the 80s worked in Technecon Ireland. They had sponsored me for the Dublin Rose I had made to the finals.Some bank managers daughter from Malahide had won ,Larry Gogan said I was robbed😂😂😂.We had many a good night in the Hawthorne and The Lord Mayors Pub.Spechally after what we called training for the Women's mini Marathon we ran backwards to the Hawthorne .We did complete it in 1986.Brilliant night unforgettable times. times.Thankyou for sharing.

Ah the 80's. When, if it had 4 wheels of some description and some sort of illumination to get you to and from the pub at night, all the boxes were ticked and you were free to drive in complete safety.

Hi Katherine, I did a get response and they very kindly allowed me to use some of the footage but in the end i decided not to use it because it wasnt high quality enough for my documentary project and not in a wide screen format but still nice historical footage 🙂
