@michaelschey1084 I've been collecting rock/pop/Metal albums since 1970. This album is #1. There are a few other albums that are a distant 2nd, and then there are the rest. Obvioulsy music is subjective. IMO this is the masterpiece that will most likely never be surpassed. Near perfection.

ok and yes, it is very subjective, but to put Boston as a better album than say Who's Next, DSOTM or BTR I think is not correct. @@kevinehle6637

I grew up in Pittsburgh during the 1970s/1980s, a dismal place and time (I moved to Boston after college in 1989) but was blessed with the most amazing radio station 102.5 DVE, every weekday at 6pm the DJ (Herschel!) would do "the side at six" where he'd drop the needle at the beginning of an album side and just play it through (I was one of many who'd be standing by the stereo cassette deck ready to record the whole thing, lol)...THIS album side was the one he played most often...ah, good times!

Ridiculously catchy song. How many hooks can you throw into one rock track? And the mix of acoustic and spacey electric guitar is just killer. Deceptively dark lyrics underneath the bright shiny veneer of this tune: "Now you're climbin' to the top of the company ladder Hope it doesn't take too long Can't you see there'll come a day when it won't matter? Come a day when you'll be gone."

In '76 I was 17, bought the album because More Than a Feeling hit the radio. Took the album home, put on my headphones, gently set the needle onto the vinyl and was completely mesmerized by what I heard. Now, it's headphones and an iMac, but the experience is the same. Incredible, 47 years later.

The feel gpod rock of Boston epitomized growing up in the 70s for me. This music defined amd framed my youth. Im instantly transported to being 17 and crusing town in my Chevelle. At the party. At home with the headphones. Hanging with my girl. Road trips with friends. Washing the car on a Saturday afternoon. At the pool. Its all in this music. What a great time. What great music. I'm glad you young guys get it too!

Look up the vid of Tom Scholz visiting the house where he recorded most of this album! The little lady living there at first didn't realize the significance of the house she is living in. They go into the basement where he recorded. He remembered having to duck his head going into the basement. there was still masking tape on the door frame that Tom put there years ago. It's a great vid to watch.

Saw these guys with Eddie Money, Cheap Trick and Kansas at the Oakland Coliseum in 1976. What a great show. Boston's debut album was and still is some of the best music that came out of the 70's. Brad Delp (RIP) was right up there with Plant, Daltry, Ozzy; a very distinguished group. Sex, drugs and rock n' roll. Can I get an amen? Keep them coming guys.

Listened to this album in car on the way home today (before I knew you were doing this). Heard this a Million and two times - never gets old!!! This song is guitar driven!!! Brad's range is ridiculous!!!!! Knowing Tom S. did the arranging of the instruments - it could not be complete without Brad's vocals!!!! At 8:15 it does that thing where it goes to the sky to go back down, like in Long Time. The 4 part guitars is my absolute favorite(10:16)!!! When they come in one at a time! Whew!!!!! "Makes you so happy". Noticed they do always fade out... Keeps you wanting more. Ryan does not realize what a gift it is that he gets to listen to these songs for the first time!!!! He may not see it that way, but it is. 😊 All of them are good ( I do usually skip "smoking" but it's structure is totally Boston). Good message - be happy with what you have! I embarrass people at the end of the son... Always put one finger up for the first guitar (goes around twice) the two fingers and so on!!! Can't help it.

“The trademark sci-fi theme of the record cover was Scholz' concept: "The idea was escape; I thought of a 'spaceship guitar. ' " The original spaceship was designed in 1976 by Paula Scher and illustrated by Roger Huyssen with lettering by Gerard Huerta for Epic Records.”

Great song from a classic album. I played the cassette to death in my car, when the album debuted. Such a brilliant track off a great album. That breakdown toward the end with just Toms guitars, man, you know it's coming and still, just perfect... i know the debut album tends to get the majority of the love, deservedly so, & it's a tough one to follow, but i love the first three albums a lot. I count myself lucky to have seen them live with Brad still in great form in the 80s.
