This is where the formula for InSynC and BackStreet Boys, Timberlake, Beiber, TLC, SWV, Destiny's Child. They were the male proof of concept for the industry in the 80:s and 90's. Revamped the old performances and "Sanging"!!🤯 Perfected from the Menudo template. Mastered and proliferated the pop charts on both genders world wide. Singing dancing all around performing . Pop music with that "old school R&B" group flavor. They brought the Four Tops, Commodores, Temptations, Platters, etc... to Popular music genre back then and modern R&B back then.

NE STILL tours (well pre Covid) and they STILL do ALLL the same moves *including the slide* 😉, ifact this *EXACT* routine at every concert and it NEVER GETS OLD!! 🥰 If you everrrr get the opportunity to see them GO!! Also, NE never "broke up", the took time out for solo careers, broke off to do Bell Biv Devoe, Heads of State (Ralph, Johnny & Bobby), Ralph & Johnny toured just them aswell but the ALWAYS come back together every few years and tour as ALL 6 MEMBERS playing the best joints by ALL solo & group performances. Whats even better is all 6 partake in eachothers songs. They are by far my favorite living group (if you couldn't tell lol) Other greats are 1. "Is this the end" (Includes Bobby) 2. "You're Not My Kind of Girl" (no Bobby, Includes Johnny) 3. "Candy Girl" (Includes Bobby) 4. "Jealous Girl" (Includes Bobby) 5. "Mr. Telephone Man" (includes Bobby) 6. "Hit Me Off" (all 6) 7. "Still in Love With You" (all 6) 8. "You Don't Have to Worry REMIX" Is a GREAT song, it's actually a Missy Elliott song featuring New Edition (All 6) with Bobby as lead and is DOPE!!! Then of course Bell Biv Devoe songs/videos to check out are: 1. "Poison" 2. "Do Me" 3. "When Will I See You Smile Again" (has a Can You Stand the Rain vibe but with Ricky as lead, it's dope) Bobby solo: 1. "Rock witcha" (QUIET STORM REMIX is the video one and best imo 2. "My Prerogative" 3. "Every Little Step" 4. "Roni" 5. "On Our Own/Ghostbusters II soundtrack" 6. "Don't Be Cruel" 7. "Humpin Around" 8. "Somethin in Common" (featuring Whitney Houston) Ralph solo: 1. "Sensitivity" 2. "Do What I Gotta Do" 3. "Stone Cold Gentleman" 4. "Rated R" Johnny solo: 1. "My My My" 2. "Rub You the Right Way" Lol....think I gave yall enough to satisfy ANY New Edition/Solo Playlist but honestly that's just the tip on the iceberg 🥰 enjoy fellas!!

Security jumps on stage, drags the man off and put the mic back on. THE ENTIRE TIME THEY KEPT PERFORMING!! And did not miss a STEP, BEAT, NOTE. PROFESSIONALS!...... Back then, folks had real talent! Their voices were just like the songs because there wasnt any auto tune.. ...........NE is the Modern day Boy band Blueprint!

Bobby was kicked out in '85 and started his solo career in '86. Johny was brought in initially in '87 to replace Ralph, because the group was in turmoil and they were worried Ralp would go solo. Ralph however was the most committed and loyal member of the group and always put everyone else and the group first
@stephenjohnson84263 жыл бұрын
No, Johnny was being brought in because of Ralph not Bobby. Bobby was kicked out and doing his solo project, so, Ronnie, Ricky, and Mike thought Ralph was gonna leave and go solo also. Keep in mind this was happening long before BBD was even a consideration.

Sorry, Can You Stand the Rain is their best song, hands down. This is a great song but...man, Jam & Lewis killed that song! By the way, the end of If It Isn't Love leads directly into "You're Not My Kind of Girl". You have GOT to listen to this whole album, and then go listen to the "Hearsay" album by Alexander O'Neal. Get the album versions of "Criticize" and "Sunshine", but make sure to listen to it from start to finish...It plays out like a house party, lots of energy at the beginning and then slow-jam-pair-off toward the end. In my opinion the 2nd best album produced by Jam & Lewis...great 80's bangers and Quiet Storm material.

The NE Heartbreak album was New Edition's attempt at a more adult sound so they could break away from the teenie bopper bubble gum boy band pop they were known for at the time. The first seven years of MTV (1980-87) were fantastic. It was music all the time, interviews with artists, backstage behind the scenes activity, artists playing their favorite songs as guest VJs, then shows like Remote Control and The Real World started dominating air time. But the early MTV was a legend before its time, you routinely saw the Police, Billy Idol, Madonna, Wham, Van Halen, and just about every music group looking to be seen on the channel. Unfortunately, the early producers of MTV content weren't keen on promoting a lot of black artists. Of course Michael Jackson and Prince were mainstays, but many others couldn't get their videos played on MTV. So along came BET, which not only played all of the black artists, but Michael and Prince as well. Early BET was fire and MTV took notice, realizing the audience they could have had in the early years if they were more open in their music catalog.
@TheVoyeurtaz3 жыл бұрын
Your whitewashed, revisionist history is mistaken. When MTV first came on the air, their publicity line stated that they would not play any black artist. It continued, we are a rock channel for rock music. And for three years all you saw were white artists, white hosts, etc. Then "Billie Jean" came out and they wanted to air the video. Michael said, "No, you don't want to play black artists so you can't play me (reminding them that he is black). He forced them to air black artists in order to let them play Billie Jean.
