Although one of the simpler METALLICA songs, it is their best song. Powerful! Live version is even better.

Their first 4 albums were life changing for me. Back in the 80's cassette trading of unheard of metal bands was a huge thing. A couple of weeks maybe a month before the release of Kiil Em' All I got a copy of the demo and it just blew me away and I was hooked, I played that cassette so many times I wore the tape out. My fav is still "The Four Horsemen". The transitions in that song are just stellar!!!! I still remember the first time I heard it I was like "WTF!!!!! This is INCREDIBLE!!!!!" Peace

I love that one of y'all said the album tone sounds like "[a room] with a hard, cold floor" and talked about how cold and icy it is. That's exactly how I always felt too; the theme of death that is kinda present through the whole album gives this icy feeling, almost a feeling of being trapped or stuck (either physically, mentally, spiritually, emotionally, whatever). Trapped Under Ice and Fade to Black both have that same kind of icy feeling to me, despite Fade to Black having an oddly tender warmth to it as well.

Cliffs intro to this song at Day On The Green in 85 was AMAZING. He made that bass guitar scream like he was Kirk on the lead guitar. ABSOLUTELY MIND BLOWING. RIP CLIFF BURTON 🤘🤘

No real guitar solo in this one but that intro tho! One of the best metal albums of all time.

Sounds like they're jamming it out in a huge Chapel, too. The whole album's fire.

Seen them about 24 times over the years. Only missed load reload and ride the lightning. Ironic considering that ride the lightning is my favorite album. One of the greatest live bands ever.

Guy’s the first time I heard this was when I seen them live in 1986 on the Monsters of Rock tour. They opened with it and I was hooked, Giant Stadium was rocking and they weren’t even the headliner! Nobody sounded like them then or now. Early Metallica is crazy good...

Metallica rocked it out the first four albums. MOP and RTL are phenomenal. Kill ‘em All is great as well and total thrash out album. I don’t remember metal being on the radio until late 2000s. Rightfully so and never should’ve been because then Metallica wouldn’t have grown to radio play music.

I found your channel a couple weeks ago and have been binging your reacts! Metallica is my favorite band too! I actually love raw, jamming metal, so Kill 'Em All is my favorite album. But my favorite song is actually the more restrained No Remorse: I think Hammett's best ever solo to open the song, then great beat, then last section blows you away. I saw them in Wisconsin on their Ride The Lightning tour, For Whom The Bell Tolls was awesome. My favorite of their newer songs is All Nightmare Long, but I can't find your reaction that you mentioned? Did it have to be taken down due to video?

In Wagner's "Das Reingold" there is a section (it's indicated in the score) for 18 tuned anvils. Can't get more metal than that.

"(Metallica has) a more sophisticated sound than a lot of metal bands do" OOF. you need to listen to more metal.
@oldcat73 жыл бұрын
When I say sophisticated I don't mean complex. Not to say that some of their stuff isn't, but you get the point. I just believe that they are most accessible metal band for "non metal heads". In my opinion that's not a knock, it's a compliment. I have never thought they were the most musically gifted group. But I don't think that is what settles the debate at the end of the day. I love all types of metal, even the most intricate bands you could name. But it has to sound good, period. It has to be music I'll go back to constantly. Some people can listen to the convulted tracks on repeat. Not me. Love them, but the replay value just isn't there like it is here. I could go on and on but that's the main premise. There's a San Antonio Spurs analogy I put in a comment a while back for Lost in Vegas's reaction to this song. Maybe I'll mention it next time we come back to them. Admittedly I am a little biased, but hopefully that makes some sense. If not, oh well. Thanks for watching man!
@jettrainbow3 жыл бұрын
@@oldcat7 Oh, I wasn't knocking Metallica, either. My point was that there's a wealth of other bands that are sophisticated as well.
