Indeed she does, I just wish the damn choir's would of shut up in last 2 minutes so you could of fully heard how magnificent Ann's rendition was. No need to glam it up, and make it a broadway spectacle, Zep were never about that. Having just the drums, the bass, two guitarists and the Wilson's singing would of been so much more outstanding, as they all blew it up, but you could hardly tell.

These 2 AMAZING LADIES are the absolute QUEENS of rock. So many great tracks. I grew up in the 70's listening to so many greats that my parents had playing on the record player. YEAH, A RECORD PLAYER!!!! Damn now I realy feel old, LOL 😂😂😂 A few examples, Peter Frampton, Elton John, Heart, Jimmy Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and it keeps on going. My father had a reel to reel tape recorder and made his own playlists from multiple different records and artists. If we had family over for a get together, the reel to reel player came out and the rocking started. Never a dull moment musically.

Yes, I went to a Heart concert in Indianapolis when a local boy was the opening act...John Mellencamp (or John Cougar as he was known at the time). What a great show that was. I of course had all the Heart albums and had John's "Nothin' Matters and What If It Did" album which is great btw. This was just before he released American Fool which put him on the board in a big way with hits like Hurts So Good and Jack and Diane. Both bands brought it. They were fantastic. You guys need to show middle America some love. Let's hear some Bob Seger and John Mellencamp. I saw Bob and John many, many times. Bob's live album Live Bullet is still the best live album ever even though the quality is not that great, but no doubt his voice and performance puts it way over the top for me.

You're right. But, only the "casual" listener would confuse their vocals. Hell, I'm a metalhead. And I know that it's Ann's voice the instant the woman utters a syllable. And you're right about Nancy. She is good enough to front a band herself.

@@IllumeEltanin That was a very poignant moment in Rock History, but if you want to see Heart rip through Led Zeppelin tunes you need to go back and hear their stuff from the 70's early 80's. They had Zep show up for a sound check because they wanted their permission before they unleashed their Zep covers. To say the least, they got the permission, and Zep was blown away. And that is why Ann and Nancy were asked to do STH, as Zep requested they do.

@@toddstevens13 Heart was basically a Led Zeppelin cover band when they formed in Vancouver, BC, Canada. They were nicknamed Little Zep by people who were around at the time. They never asked or got "permission" from anyone - much less the members of LZ to cover their songs. Ann and Nancy had John Paul Jones produce and play on one of their albums in 1995 - but he was there as a hard working producer and musician not an emissary of LZ. The first time either Ann or Nancy met Robert Plant and Jimmy page was after their show at the Kennedy Center Honors.

They were actually both singles, Crazy on You and Magic Man. I was very young when this song came out and this song scared me. It's a scary sounding song to a kid, and honestly the music sounds more like the "magic man" is going to take her out to the forest and chop her into pieces than just seduce her.. Many years later when I was old enough to appreciate this type of music in high school we used to always get high to "Dog and Butterfly" from this band. Also notable for the 70s, "Magic Man" is over 5 minutes long and was never edited down for the radio/single, was a brand new band, and still managed to make the Top 10 singles chart. It wasn't the first Top 10 single over 5 minutes, but it was one of the first and was definitely the first for a band no one had ever heard of.

So random you should say this. I was born in 89 so not young enough to be alive when this came out - but i do remember hearing this on the radio a lot during the 90s and being very freaked out by the song especially the part when the synthesizer starts. If i was alone as a kid and this song came on i'd have to change the station. Now 20 years later its one of my favorites

❤ Enjoyed your reaction, guys. Been a Heart fan since 1978. Last seen them in concert in September of 2019. They still sound so good. I have the original 1975 vinyl which lists the song writers as Ann Wilson, Roger Fisher and Nancy Wilson. In their 2012 autobiography, Kickin & Screamin, Ann Wilson confirmed that Roger Fisher cowrote the music to this song with Nancy. Roger was Heart's lead guitarist up until 1979 and cofounded the band in 1963 with Heart's original bassist, Steve Fossen. His lead guitar on this song is so classic and well regarded by so many guitarists.
@BobSoltis1
@BobSoltis1 Жыл бұрын
Yep...the song was about Ann's lover Mike Fisher who they all followed up to Canada when Mike crossed the border to evade the draft. Nancy joined them a year or so after they were getting popular with their gigs around Vancouver BC. Nancy and Roger became lovers so it was Ann and Mike and Roger and Nancy. Howard Leese and Michael Derosier joined them permanently after they played with them as studio musicians for their first recordings. "Heart" pretended to be Canadians even after this song became a hit and they started to perform back in the US. When Carter pardoned draft dodgers in 1977 they dropped the charade. Nancy started screwing around with the band's drummer Derosier and that broke Roger's heart. He hit the drugs hard to deal with the pain and the band booted him. Ann dumped Mike a couple of months later so the band lost their brilliant guitarist and rock and roll soul Roger and their manager/guiding force Mike within a few weeks of each other. That was when they lost their rock edge and became more of a pop ballad duo which is exactly how Ann wanted it.

Ann's relationship with Michael was mostly the reason Heart left the USA for many years. Michael, who was the Lead War. To save Michael etc. Heart moved to Vancouver Canada. Dreamboat Annie, and Magazine were recorded in Canada. They went Coast to Coast in Canada Touring and becoming a Hit Band there. Even their American ads and radio advertising had the line, "All the way from Canada, Heart" and then the information about their albums and touring dates near the American Border They were accepted as Canadians, and stayed here until Michael was found correct that the US had falsely Drafted him, allowing them to return to Seattle.

@@allanbluzdude Agree about Howard. He is truly multi-talented, and he was a great guitarist for Heart after Roger left. He wasn't real flamboyant on stage so he didn't get a ton of attention, but he did some great stuff with them. One of my favorites is his playing on the track Bad Animals (title cut from the album), he just absolutely tore it up. It's a slow burning track but very heavy his playing throughout is great, but the outro and fade is killer. That's a song I wish they had made a couple minutes longer and just let him jam more, kind of like how Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd has that long guitar outro.

@@theodoreritola9758 Yeah it was. It was no different than the type of rock Aerosmith, Kiss, Alice Cooper, and other 70s bands that successfully transitioned to the 80s. Hair metal was the style of that and power ballads were part of that formula. It wasn't the band's fault that Heart's record company had an annoying habit of pushing too many power ballads to radio. The title cut to Bad Animals was one of the best heavy tracks Heart ever did, those albums had a number of good harder tracks: If Looks Could Kill, The Wolf, Shell Shock, The Night, Wild Child, Tall Dark Handsome Stranger were all good rock album tracks. With that said, I agree with you that songs like These Dreams weren't my favorite.

Y'all should also check out their song, If Looks Could Kill. They bring the meaning of that phrase to a new level.

The song "Dreamboat Annie" is gorgeous, albeit a little too short. Heart was my first concert in 1980 at the age of 15. Sing Child Sing Little Queen Kick it Out Dog and Butterfly Love Alive Just a very few of the Heart gems. Plus, Ann is one of the few people that can channel Robert Plant like very few can.
