Francis kidnapped nearly the entire population of Inkopolis to drain them of every last drop of ink (which would probably kill them, Meggy was turned human by the big boi machine) and was _definitely_ ready to kill Meggy over it and anyone else who got in his way, not to mention SMG3 deleted _everyone_ from existence.

So basically, either Meggy or Desti dies in the hands of Sephiroth, even if he was killed beforehand (but you know, he comes back because "never be a memory") But I think after one of the two dies, Sephiroth can actually be killed off forever in the universe, so hopefully Desti no longer has to deal with him after the fight.

Technically, I think the reason that False Sephiroth came back was because Saiko didn't kill him by batting him through the wall with her hammer. We never saw his body fade away, so there was leeway to assume the clone lived. So basically, since he survived the Anime Arc... he sought revenge. That is a tragic "there can be only one" scenario.

Feel like the one dies the other lives part is true although the killed by Sephiroth depends on whennthe events happen. The past with meggy there was an interesting take but didn't make sense, cuz like if they still managed to defeat the lizard guy wouldn't all the anime characters he created would've disappeared..or did I miss something?

Think it's as long as Inkweaver is still working and not broken or they kill the characters without breaking Inkweaver via any other means ( like using vehicles, guns knives, bombs, hands or feet or any other weapon) then the characters still are alive and move around but when Inkweaver breaks that's most likely when the characters disappear or die. As for Sephiroth in the What If Desti never died part although Francis did get defeated Sephiroth still moved around so he either barely survived and got out before the Island blew up or he escaped not too damaged. Francis defeated could've stopped the characters he summoned using Inkweaver but pretty sure once he was defeated in the Anime Arc the characters he created using Inkweaver still moved around and didn't freeze or die
