A lot of people praise Viggo for his response here - but I have to disagree. From his son’s perspective, he stole a random guy’s car and killed his puppy. His father SHOULD have a problem with that. Yes, they’re part of a massive underground organization that assassinates people. However, even in that context, there are people who draw a line between “business” and harming innocent people. Plus, hurting Daisy (the puppy) shows that his son is insecure and cowardly. Hence why everyone loves John Wick. Despite his past, he has principles.

I think John was looking for a reason to stand down, otherwise he would have hung up as soon as Viggo introduced himself. Iosef in hearing he has wronged someone of such consequence, his first instinct is not to be humble, and show remorse, but to escalate and try to kill him. Even Viggo, who knows precisely how dangerous John is, can't bear to humble himself before him during the phone call. He offers "condolences" for the death of his wife but never once offers apologies for how his son has wronged him. He condescends by saying "let *US* not resort to our baser instincts" as if both sides were somehow equally at fault for their current predicament.

What i never understood is why viggo didnt talk to his son about john wick before? Like " son just keep in mind to never mess up with john wick here is a picture so if you ever see him on the street you just walk the other way"

Yes, yes it is. Viggos son should have went with all state. He could have avoided mayhem, like that.

I noticed that Viggo took off his jacket and rolled up with his sleeve, but put jacket back on only after two punches to Iosef’s gut. I think he was going to knock a few more senses in Iosef if he still doesn’t get the gravity of the situation, it also shows how he was struggling to maintain his composure. Body language in movie are taught in film school and narrative classes and they have been analyzed to hell and back, but it’s the tiny yet noticeable actions even with untrained eyes like these that make the scenes so much more memorable.

John will come for you, and you will do nothing, cause you can do nothing- cold blooded man

“I once saw him kill three men in a bar… with a pencil”, imagine you kill the dog of a man who can do that…

I love how Viggo takes off his jacket, rolls up his right sleeve. Then puts his jacket back on, and rolls down his right sleeve. All with like 50 seconds.

To be honest, IMO, i believe if Vigo had started with an apology, instead of trying to reason with a grieving man, none of this would've happened

It took me this long to realize that the move Viggo made was mimicking how John used that pencil.

Everyone in the world throughout the series knows who john is....except viggos son The biggest (actual) plot hole in cinematic history
