A Navy mom here. In less than 2 weeks my husband, son and daughter and I will be attending my son Jordan’s PIR (look at me knowing the military abbreviations😂) boot camp graduation. From here he goes to Coronado. You know what that means Eddie and Shawn! A lot of this interview was of course VERY hard to hear but listening to the end was worth it and very needed! We are a christian family. We have all accepted Jesus as our Savior🙌🏼 Jordan really grew in his relationship with Jesus 2 months before BC and while in BC. So he is “softened” only to have to have to become callused if he wants to make it through BUD/s. As his mom, I’m praying every single day for God to protect his mind. He wants to fight for this great country! For our people! I support that! He knows where he will be when he dies! Who better to be in this position than believers who know they will be with their maker for eternity?! Eddie, the “good guys” as you call them, went before you because God was extending grace to you, drawing you to Himself in a crazy way!! You fought in the spiritual warfare! God won!!! You chose God! He wins! In the end times, God wins and satan knows it! he just wants to drag as many with him to fire as possible! I’m so happy to hear your good news! You are a child of God! And now living your life to serve Him! Amen! Amen!! God bless your family and the ways that you are saying YES to God as the Holy Spirit nudges you! Please pray for Jordan to keep Christ at the center of what he’s doing in the military…that he would be at the center of what God’s will is for him! God will take him as far as he is supposed to go. He’s trying to be a testimony of God by not cursing {in the military} where everyone curses! I’m praying that from the beginning he will never get into the drinking and drunkenness, the girls, the stuffing of emotions/feelings, the narcotics! So that there won’t have to be the pulling out and getting far away from it all. I wish you could be a BUD/s instructor right NOW Eddie! Eddie, keep yourself immersed in God’s word! ALL you need is right there in your Bible. I’ll end with this..GOD is moving! He is doing SOMETHING! I’m in a Navy mom of SEAL candidates FB group. There are 21 of us moms with sons going to Coronado and MANY are born again! I had been praying for at least ONE other christian friend out of those 80 other guys in his compartment for my son and God blessed him with several. So many believers in our moms group I can’t believe it! I don’t know what God is doing or what this means for what’s maybe about to go down in our country. Laying it all at the foot of the cross! And trying my best to leave it there!!

My beautiful warrior of a husband became “Christ Curious” when this episode released. He listened to it dozens of times. Yesterday, 3/23/24, he made the decision to “fight the good fight” and accept Jesus into his Heart. I thank God for His forgiveness and for the LIVING BREATHING WORDS of our Savior spoken through men like you. We are back here watching this episode again tonight because he now knows what side he has signed up for and that he stands with the righteous men and his brothers in Christ. Shawn, I'm not sure if you realize what you're doing. Maybe it is by intent, maybe it is an unintended consequence. You are, without question, creating an atmosphere/climate where people see top of the food chain guys opening up about their struggles as a result of their service. You are creating a culture where it is OK to allow the emotional stress and all its consequences to come to the surface and be revealed. I think you are slowly changing our culture of suffering in emotional silence to a culture that it is OK to talk to someone and unpack and process in a healthy way all the PTS we have. Maybe, just maybe, the DOD will devote some serious resources to the mental health of our boys. I have no doubt, you will directly by way of this podcast, save lives. You probably already have.

I tore out articles from the newspaper back then. The AP article said "Oil companies giddy about the prospect of $15.00 per barrel oil from Iraq." That said it all. I don't blame these Patriot Warriers for serving. Quite the contrary, our Republic wouldn't survive without them. But know who you're serving. Christ taught turning the other cheek and loving your enemies, don't bastertise that message to suit your agenda. It's no wonder we all fall short. I'm all for the Old Testament eye for an eye, but that's not what Christ taught. Maybe that's why you suffer the pain. I don't think you should feel guilt, so I suppose I'm not a Christian. I believe in revenge, but so do the Jahdis

It’s been a year since this podcast, but my son recently introduced me to your shows and I found this one after watching a few. I was married to a paratrooper for 15 years and I could never figure out why he never loved himself, and in turn didn’t love us. We’re all on different journeys, but this podcast in particular has opened my eyes in my healing journey. We as spouses and parents of warriors go through our own war - it’s internal spiritual. We’re never going to understand your fight, but because we choose to love you, we’re in it, and we are forever changed by your pain. Salvation is just the beginning, your healing journey goes on forever. Thank you Shawn for helping the ex-wives too.

There is something about a persons decisions from the heart. When Christ really comes in, He not only changes the man, He changes the mans circumstances. The insidious veil that hides open evil is torn down. Keep going Jerome. I call them "micro decisions". It's those moment to moment changes in thinking. The decision to guard our tongues, minds and hearts is something that needs constant vigilance. Hosea 4:6 "My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge". We get into that bible and it changes the world, one soul at a time. A prayer was said for you. CJ

As a daughter whose dad left to go to training when I was 6 weeks old, I have to say he shouldn’t be ashamed that he wanted to go after his daughter was born. I grew up being proud my dad went out to protect and provide so my mom could stay home and focus on me, and I never felt abandoned or neglected because of it. That’s a gratitude issue, and my mom made sure I wasn’t allowed to grow up feeling ungrateful for all that my dad was doing for our family and community when he wasn’t present with us. He was doing all that for our sake’s and the sake of other people who depended on him because he was strong and capable. Kids need to be taught to value the sacrifices their parent’s make, and be glad that they have daddies who can’t feel good about sitting home and letting others make sacrifices while they play with the baby. That’s a gift, and his daughter may already admire him for it, but if she doesn’t she should.

As a new Christian I totally understand how Satan keeps us in the dark and completely deceived. I’m prior service but never at the level this brave man was. To have the opportunity to be completely naked emotionally and not be ashamed is something every man on this planet would fight valiantly for, that safe space is fleeting for so many of us. The love of God, peace of God and the assurances of God are absolutely mind blowing. Thank you for the platform and for allowing a safe space for men because we so desperately need it.

Amen my brother in Christ! I'm a woman and I totally agree with you about the church becoming almost "female" . Jesus himself says I don't come to spread love but to divide... Those are the words of God and yet we didn't hear them, we hear this constant message of Jesus is prosperity and love. He can be but the fruits of his spirit are not a gold card, they are things needed to deal with a wicked world (patience, kindness, mercy, forgiveness,...) He's not a genie in a bottle. Thank you so much for the time you both put into this show... It was amazing and I will share it with all I know. I probably won't meet you all in this life but look forward to seeing you in heaven some day. May God continue to use you both as a bright light in this dark world.

I've watched many of your shows, but this one got me the most. Mr Penny's testimony hit home. I was a police officer in the "bad side" of town in San Antonio, Tx. I was womanizing, drinking cheating, hurting people just to be a dick sometimes. My wife convinced me to go to a men's A.C.T.S. retreat for first responders. I showed up just thinking of ways I could get out of there. I found my Lord in Savior Jesus Christ that weekend and it changed my life. I didn't change immediately but have been a work in progress since then. Thank you for this episode. It makes me think that if this soldier warrior can do it then I am not alone. Shawn, to my knowledge, has no formal training as a counselor, nor as an interviewer. He has experience that can't be learned the easy way, and that is what makes this show the greatest documentation of combat stories I have ever seen. The guests relate and open up because they know Shawn has been through hell and back, as they have. It seems like the guests end up healing in front of the camera because Shawn is able to get them to verbalize things they may never have spoken about before. Thank you for what you do, Shawn. You're documenting history in perhaps the most raw, genuine way possible.

I stumbled across this channel a couple weeks back and it is absolutely incredible. The stories and testimonies of these warriors and the sacrifices they've made, and their gumption for doing good and fighting evils of the world alongside the tragedies they've had to bear witness to should be revered. These men and women are the reason we Americans can rest easy when we lay our heads down at night, even if they cannot. The mental, physical, and emotional exertion that these brave individuals exude is, by my mind, completely unfathomable. @ShawnRyanShowOfficial your work here is needed and deeply appreciated and i respect the hell out of you and your team man.
