A faraday bag is a must for wireless car keys too. There's a huge problem in the UK with thieves using relays to take the signal from the key and steal the car. It's got to the point know where, because people use faraday bags for their keys at home, they'll follow nice cars to the shops, hijack the key signal there and steal your car from the carpark
@jinksomiabodyart31896 ай бұрын
If you take the fob out of the bag to use it, no bag will help. Fobs do not get pinged, the arm/ disarm signal is intercepted. Mech locks are the answer.
@shanemjn6 ай бұрын
@@jinksomiabodyart3189 interception is definitely a method that's used, especially since they worked out how to get around the rolling codes. But relay thefts is the biggest problem in the UK right now. There are plenty of doorbell camera videos of people walking up to people's front door in the middle of the night with their "blackbox" then just getting in the car and driving off because they've used a relay. Range rovers are practically impossible to insure over here at the moment because they're so sought after for export and they're so easy to steal using the relay method. Mechanical locks are a must if you have keyless entry car
@kurtiousmaximus71306 ай бұрын
Keyless cars are made to get stolen now.
@PrinceOfTheCity15 ай бұрын
I only use a faraday bag for my keys actually. The phone doesn’t make sense to me cuz if it makes a phone inherently useless so why even have it all at that point?
@shanemjn5 ай бұрын
I thought I'd replied but apparently not. Interception of the unlock code is certainly something that happens, especially since they cracked the rolling code system. But here in the UK, the biggest problem is relay theft of keyless entry vehicles. Thieves will walk up to someone's house, relay the signal from the keyless entry key to the car, and drive off. Range Rovers are pretty much uninsurable at the moment because of it. At lot of people keep their keyless entry keys in a Faraday bag at home to prevent this. Because of this, thieves have now started stalking the cars that they want, following the owners into stores etc, to get the signal as people don't protect their keys when out and about. Same goes for contactless debit/credit cards, keep them in a Faraday bag

I've painted an apartment for a person who has electro-sensibility problems, just near a 5G cell tower, and it works quiet well+ some other mesures to reduce exposure. It's a graphite paint, quiet expensive and a pain in the ass to work with, but, it works mitigating signals.

Hearing that Alexa uses sonar to track you in your house reminded me that I heard somewhere that the Roomba vacuums 3-D maps the layout of the house and sends all that data somewhere, assuming China. The future is so sketchy

I'm an electrician by trade, two decades experience. This tech is no boogieman, it's been used to automatically turn lights on/off to conserve power for AGES now. It's called ultrasonic sensors and I'm a bit flabbergasted that people on the internet are turning this into some kind of conspiracy theory especially since we already know the Alexa records video/audio all the time just like the smartphone in your pocket. Ever walk into an office or school room and the lights turn on (and off when you're not there) automatically? Yep you guessed it, either infrared or ultrasonic sensors built into the switch itself or as a separate sensor in the ceiling. Most of your "smart switches" nowadays have the same tech and they're connected to your internet so you can remotely actuate. Nothing sinister, just saving a few more watts by turning off stuff that doesn't need to be used when no one is in the room. Infrared tech creates a 2D "heat map" of what it sees, any changes in heat reflect motion and it will turn the switch on, it cannot see through any objects, even glass, but it has excellent range. Ultrasonic tech creates a 3D "terrain map" which can see through/around things like bathroom partitions which is handy to know if someone is taking a long shit, it will detect your motion and not turn the lights off on you, it has quite a bit shorter range compared to infrared but is required for things like bathrooms.

Not sticking up for Amazon, but (19:10) Sonar would be blocked by walls. The Sonar they are using is probably just a proximity sensor so it knows if you are in the vicinity of the Alexa device. It would have to be equipped with some type of a microwave emitter to penetrate walls. Even them, I'm not sure how it could differentiate a person from all the clutter in a home. But who knows. . .

Nick is a good dude, served our great country with honor and rid this planet of some super shitty really bad guys while over seas! Heard his story on multiple podcasts so won't be watching the whole episode start to finish but this will be a good one for sure & people will thoroughly enjoy his story! Keep killin it Shawn, crazy how far the show has come since you first went on MikeDrop with Mike Ritland to here now! 🙏 👍

19:45 The reason Amazon wants to track your movements with Alexa has nothing to do with the deep state (you're giving them way too much credit). By tracking your position, they can integrate offerings that allow for home automation (e.g. motion detection that turns lights on whenever you enter a particular portion of your house or which turn on certain appliances/lights upon entering your home. You can have an automated script that turns on your lights in the bedroom at a very low level when you get up in the middle of the night to go pee. The lights can then be turned on and off as you traverse different areas of the house, etc.) It's not about spying on you... It's about selling you $h!t that you don't need or know that you want.

I'm so in awe of these true and I mean true Hero's!!! I can remember the summer of 1986, I was 17 due to be 18 in December. My best friend and I wanted to join the military. We went together to talk to the recruiter. My family has a long military background, clear back to Iwo jima. I at a young age knew that school wasn't right for everyone, at the time I wasn't familiar with the term indoctrination centers lol. I dropped out because I couldn't stand the entire scholastic experience. LSS, I told the recruiter that I had quit school and he said, no big deal. You can go through basic, then after basic you can go half a day to AIT and the other half studying for your GED. I was amped to the core! What he failed to tell me was a drop out had to score higher than a graduate. I took the ASVAB twice. Both times I scored high enough to get in for a graduate but not for the dumb drop out.....

Another amazing Shawn Ryan show!!!! I absolutely loved how your guest was explaining his episodes of defense!!!! I carry the Sig P-320 X-Carry with the camo slide, Wilson Combat lower and topped with the Trijicon Green Triangle, which has no battery. Super accurate and it is 17 in the mag plus one in the pipe. As they say at McDonalds, I’m Lovin’ it!!!!!

I've went through 3 EDC guns until I landed on the 365 xmacro as my carry in the axis elite. With the holosun eps carry green dot and tlr 7-sub light. Perfect EDC setup for me. I wasn't a Sig guy either after trying a friend's 365 XL. It was just a tad too short in the grip for my big hands. The xmacro is perfect. Thank you for your service, Reaper and Shawn. I listen to this podcast almost every Sunday while I'm delivering packages.
