You are correct,it stands for the gate or opening in a pine fence. More or less a Finnish national tree, the stuff you make tar out of which has been a life saver for the culture over here regarding tree boats, roofs and such because of its isolating quality.Viikate writes these old norse lyrics that reflect on the Finnish identity(obviously without being prejudice because in Finland we live in 2013 and not the middle ages)and with nice minor chords that always delight.

Ok, so I tried to translate this one, not easy since Kaarle likes to write and sing in folkloristic Finnish, obviously a traditional manner and the translation is not grammatically correct but just to give an idea.
