Her father named her Tabassum, keeping her mother's religious sentiments in mind, while her mother kept her name Kiran Bala, keeping her father’s religious sentiments in mind. Her official name as per pre-marriage documents was Kiran Bala Sachdev. Tabassum has the longest innings in cinema that started in 1947 when she debuted as Baby Tabassum as a 3 year old and went on to work as Tabassum for close to 5 decades and has literally worked with every star that there is in Bollywood. Later on she switched to television and hosted the first talk show of Indian television, 'Phool Khile Hain Gulshan Gulshan', which ran for 21 years. She's the one who introduced comedian Johnny Lever. At age 75, Tabassum, meaning smile, is as active as before on tv and now her own this channel here, spreading joy & smiles. Tribute to a great director Goldie Ji. Congratulations Tabassum Ji ! To my knowledge, Goldie Ji started his film career in 1954 as a story writer when he wrote 'Taxi Driver' at a tender age of 19. He directed mega hits like Kala Bazar, Guide, Jewel Thief, Tere Ghar Ke Samne, Johny Mera Naam, Teesri Manzil..& his song picturization was fabulous.

All three brothers were educated...talanted... great lookers. I really looked forward to watch whatever they created on screen. Though my last movie of Dev Anand which I watched was Des Perdes. Because the duo ( Dev Anand as hero and Vijay Anand as director) seperated and magic vanished. Nice program...🎈

When we got our first TV in 1977-78, Tabassum ji's Phool khilein hain gulshan gulshan with Sachin was one of the first shows on that TV i remember. I still remember the opening shot of them standing in an embrace 😊. So good to see you rocking the screen today Tabassum ji 😊🙏🌷

A few weeks before she passed away, she acted in an episode of the then popular "Zee Horror Show". In the episode, Urmilaji was killed in a similar way. I remember the media speculating that her real life murder was inspired from the televised version. Truly horrific. Rightly said - the murderers are not human.
