Jeffrey Sach's...he was team head during the dissolution of the USSR (Russia) in 1991. His "Harvard Boys" prescribed Neo-Liberal economic policy otherwise known as "Shock Therapy" which resulted in the rape/privatisation of Soviet Industries leaving regular Russians with conditions so bad there was a reduced life expectancy. This looting went on for 10 years until Putin came to power and begun arresting the criminals appointed by Sach's and reversing the damage done in Russia. As for Mearsheimer, he's a Sinophobe and closet Anglo American Imperialist playing "good cop" on one side while fanning the flames on the other. A case can be made that Sach's has changed his ways but that's unlikely because the American "mainstream media" (arm of CIA) cancels ALL moral whistleblowers who point out the real criminals in daylight.

**Breakdown of Key Takeaways: The Global South Stands With Palestine** This report provides a comprehensive analysis of a speech delivered by Vijay Prashad, an Indian historian and Marxist intellectual, at Connolly Books in Ireland. The discussion primarily focuses on the ongoing war in Gaza, its distinct nature compared to other conflicts, and the shifting geopolitical landscape where the Global South increasingly resists the dominance of the Global North. *The Nature of the War in Gaza* Prashad argues that the recent bombardment of Gaza by Israel is qualitatively different from other conflicts, including the war in Ukraine. He highlights the deliberate targeting of civilian infrastructure, including universities, bakeries, and power plants, demonstrating a clear intent to destroy the very foundations of Palestinian life. He challenges the notion that public outrage stems solely from the availability of images, emphasizing instead the sheer brutality and comprehensiveness of the destruction in Gaza. Prashad draws a stark contrast between the Russian bombing of Ukraine, which has not obliterated the country's infrastructure, and the Israeli bombing of Gaza, which has systematically targeted essential services and institutions. He cites the destruction of the Yasser Arafat airport in 2002, highlighting that the lack of an airport to bomb in the recent attack is not indicative of restraint, but rather a result of prior destruction. *Evidence of Intent and Long-Term Impact* Further strengthening his argument, Prashad references the South African complaint to the International Criminal Court (ICC), which details the explicit statements of Israeli officials expressing their intent to inflict hardship on Palestinians. He also points to the lasting effects of the war, including unexploded ordnance, environmental toxins, and the psychological trauma inflicted on generations of Palestinian children. *Shifting Geopolitical Landscape* Prashad then delves into the shifting geopolitical landscape, where the Global South, including nations like Namibia, Nicaragua, Bolivia, Venezuela, and Colombia, are increasingly challenging the hegemony of the Global North. He points to the South African challenge to Israel at the ICC as an early example of this resistance, stemming from their own experiences with apartheid. He argues that the Global North, led by the United States, has transitioned from a development project in the Global South to a hyper-imperialist project characterized by massive military spending and the use of violence to maintain control. This is exemplified by the extensive network of US military bases around the world and the exorbitant military budgets of NATO and its allies. *Decadence and Lack of Vision in the Global North* Prashad critiques the intellectual and political leadership of the Global North, describing them as decadent and lacking a vision for solving the pressing problems of our time. He contrasts this with leaders from the Global South, such as Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of Kerala, India, who demonstrate a commitment to addressing social problems through thoughtful policies and public engagement. He cites Vijayan's response to the issue of girls dropping out of school due to a lack of access to menstrual hygiene products as an example of leadership that tackles challenges head-on with a philosophical and empathetic approach. *Conclusion* In conclusion, Prashad's speech paints a picture of a world in transition. While the Global North continues to exercise its military might, its legitimacy and intellectual leadership are waning. The Global South, emboldened by its own economic progress and a growing awareness of its collective power, is increasingly challenging the status quo and demanding justice for Palestine. The war in Gaza, while devastating in its immediate impact, may well mark a turning point in the struggle against imperialism and towards a more just and equitable world order.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:00 *🤖 Comparison of Israeli and Russian military actions* - The speaker highlights a perceived double standard in the international response to the conflicts in Gaza and Ukraine, noting that while the Russian bombing of Ukraine has not resulted in the same level of destruction as the Israeli bombing of Gaza, the global outrage seems more pronounced in the case of Ukraine. - The speaker challenges the audience to demand the same level of visual evidence and accountability from the Russian actions in Ukraine as is demanded from the Israeli actions in Gaza. 01:36 *🎨 The nature of the Israeli bombardment of Gaza* - The speaker describes the systematic and widespread destruction caused by the Israeli bombardment of Gaza, including the targeting of critical infrastructure, essential services, and civilian institutions. - The speaker argues that the Israeli actions in Gaza constitute a deliberate attempt to undermine the ability of Palestinians to sustain their daily lives and way of life, going beyond the typical military targets. 04:33 *🔥 The long-term consequences of the Israeli bombardment* - The speaker highlights the lasting impacts of the Israeli bombardment, including the extensive damage to infrastructure, the contamination of the environment, and the trauma inflicted on the Palestinian population, particularly children. - The speaker emphasizes that the effects of the bombardment will continue to be felt for generations, with unexploded ordnance, respiratory illnesses, and ongoing mental health challenges. 07:59 *🌍 The global response and the role of the Global South* - The speaker criticizes the lack of meaningful international condemnation and action against the Israeli actions, particularly from the governments of the Global North. - The speaker highlights the significance of the South African government's complaint to the International Criminal Court, and the role of the Global South in standing with the Palestinian people. 25:46 *🌍 The Global South's response to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict* - The speaker discusses the statement made by the late Namibian president, who directly challenged the German government's right to comment on the issue of genocide, citing Germany's own history of genocide against the Herero and Nama people in Southwest Africa. - The speaker highlights how this response from Namibia angered the German government, as it undermined their self-image as a champion of human rights and democracy. 30:29 *🌱 The Global South's support for Palestine* - The speaker notes that countries in the Global South, such as Nicaragua, Bolivia, Venezuela, and Colombia, have actively supported the Palestinian case against Israel at the International Court of Justice, in contrast to the lack of support from the Global North. - The speaker suggests that the support from the Global South reflects a growing depletion of the power and legitimacy of the Global North, as evidenced by the widespread display of Palestinian flags and solidarity in countries like Ireland. 32:06 *🌍 The shifting global dynamics and the role of the Global South* - The speaker argues that the ongoing "Third Great Depression" has led to a decline in the ability of the Global North to engage in development projects in the Global South, as they have been increasingly focused on building up their military capabilities. - The speaker highlights the rise of alternative sources of development financing from countries in the Global South, such as the BRICS and Belt and Road initiatives, which have reduced the reliance of countries like Namibia on the traditional institutions and power structures of the Global North. 44:53 *🔍 The "hyper-imperialism" of the Global North* - The speaker argues that the Global North, led by the United States, has shifted from exporting capital for development to building up a massive and threatening military apparatus, with 75% of global military spending attributed to NATO and its allies. - The speaker suggests that this "hyper-imperialism" is not only dangerous in terms of military force but also in the way it seeks to suppress and silence critics, citing examples of the deportation of a Palestinian doctor and the banning of a prominent scholar from entering Germany. 53:00 *🏘️ The housing crisis and cost of living in the Global North* - The speaker comments on the high cost of living and housing prices in Ireland, suggesting that it is unfathomable for many people to afford accommodation in the country. - The speaker questions how people are able to live in such an expensive environment, highlighting the need for solutions to the housing crisis. 53:28 *🧠 The intellectual collapse in the Global North* - The speaker argues that there has been an "intellectual collapse" in the Global North, with university faculty producing work that is detached from the pressing issues of the time. - The speaker contrasts this with the more engaged and problem-solving approach of intellectuals like Bertrand Russell, who grappled with the big questions of their era, and the speeches of contemporary leaders in the Global South, such as Xi Jinping and Pinarayi Vijayan. 57:20 *🚺 Addressing societal issues: The example of Kerala* - The speaker provides an example of how the government of Kerala, led by Pinarayi Vijayan, addressed the issue of girls dropping out of school due to a lack of access to menstrual hygiene products. - The speaker highlights how Vijayan approached this problem in a thoughtful and philosophical manner, recognizing it as an issue of gender equality and prejudice, and implemented a solution of providing free sanitary napkins in schools. 59:57 *🌍 The decadence of the ruling classes in the Global North* - The speaker argues that the ruling classes in the Global North are not only "dangerous" but also "decadent," as they are unwilling to recognize and solve the real problems facing their societies. - The speaker contrasts this with the approach of leaders in the Global South, who are willing to engage with and address societal issues in a more thoughtful and problem-solving manner.
